In the name of God amen: The second day of November 1760 Marme Duke Robason of the County of Tyrrel and Province of North Carolina planter being very sick & weak of body but perfict mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soule into the hands of Allmighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be decently buried in Christain Buriel at the duretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and despose of the same in the following manner and form.

Imprimis - I give and bequeth to my son Mark my plantation my wife having her life time on it and one feather beed and furniture I also give to my daughter Ann two cowes and calves and all the rest of my Estate to be equally after my wifes decease amoungst my five children I do utterly disallow revoak and disannul all and every other Testaments Wills Legacies and bequest by in in any ways before named Willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament I also constitute for Executor and Executrix John Bennett and my wife Ann Robason in witness wereof I have herunto set my hand and seal the day and year above writtern.

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


September Session 1762

Personally appeared William Roberson and on his oath proved the last wil and testament of MarmeDuke Roberson & saith on his oath that he was of dispossing mind and memory & that he saw George Gorward sign his name and Marthew Roberson make her marke as subscribing witnesses.

Personally appeared John Bennet and exhibited an inventory of the estate of Marmer-Duke Roberson deceased and proved the same upon his oath.

Personally appeared John Bennet and qualified executor of the last will and testament of MarmeDuke Roberson deceased by taking the oath of an executor.

On motion of John Bennet exr. of Marmeduke Roberson to sell so much of the perishable estate as will pay the debts and funeral charges; ordered granted.

March Session 1763

John Bennet exhibited an account of sale of the estate of Duke Roberson deceased and proved the same on his oath ordered filed.
