Dated 2 June 1772

In the name of God amen: The second day of June one thousand seven hundred and seventy two I, Robert Powell being very weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decant Christain burial at the discresion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurection to receive the same by the mighty power of God and as touching worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased almighty God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of in manner and form following -

First - I Will that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.

Item - I give to my son William Powel five shillings sterling to be leveyed and paid out of my Estate and likewise his freedom on the first day of August next I say unto my son William Powel.

Item - I give unto my daughter Mary Powel one bed and furniture and two plates I say unto my daughter Mary Powel. -

Item - I give to my son John Powel all my working tools three pots one pan and one hand mill and horse of two years old and one gun. I say unto my son John Powell. -

Item - I lend unto my loving wife Sarah Powel during her widowhood the use of the Plantation with the land thereunto belonging whereon I now live and on the day of her marriage or death to be equally devided between my two sons Martin Powel and Benjamin Powel. I likewise lend to my loving wife Sarah Powel two mares: all my hogs all my cattle and all my sheep and all my gees: during her widowhood or life and on the day of her marriage what is then in her posession or to be found of this stock aforementioned to be equally divided between Mary Powel John Powel Millia Powel and my daughter Sarah Powel. I likewise lend to my loving wife Sarah Powel during her widowhood or life all the articles that I gave to my son John Powel and on the day her marriage to be his again.

Item - I give to my daughter Milla Powel one bed and sheet after her mothers decease or marriage I say unto my daughter Milla Powel.

Item - I give to my daughter Sarah Powel one bed and sheet after her mothers decease or marriage I say unto my daughter Sarah Powel. -

I likewise nominate and appoint my loving wife Sarah Powel and Martin Joyce my sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking and disanulling all other former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and afixed my seal this day and year first written.

Personally appeared Caleb Joyce and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that he saw Robert Powel sign seal and pronounce this to be his last will and testament and that he saw John Griffin at his request sign as a subscribing witness thereto Test Fr. Ward Clk
