October Session 1815

Ordered that Nancy Pledger have leave of administration on the estate of Joseph Pledger deceased and has entered into bonds in the sum of one thousand pounds and gives for security Henry Alexander Senr. and Randal Basnight.

Ordered that Thomas Leigh Esqr. Henry Alexander Senr. Leml Basnight Saml. Spruill and Danl. Sawyer Esqr. be appointed to lay off to Mrs. Nancy Pledger her years allowance out of her deceased husbands estate agreeable to law & make return to next court.

Ordered that Nancy Pledger administratrix of Jos. Pledger have leave to sell the perishable estate of said deceased and make returns to next court.

January Session 1816

Thomas Leigh Esqr. returned into court the inventory and account of sales of the estate of Joseph Pledger deceased.

April Session 1816

Ordered that Nancy Pledger widow of Jos. Pledger deceased be allowed thirty six dollars and 75/100 as part of her years allowance.

April Session 1817

Ordered that Thomas Leigh Lemuel Basnight & Daniel Sawyer audite & settle the estate of Joseph Pledger deceased with the administrator of said deceased & make return to the next court.

July Session 1817

Ordered that Thos. Leigh Esqr. Leml. Basnight and Col. Danl. Sawyer audite and settle the estate of Joseph Pledger deceased and make returns to next court.

Ordered that Thomas Davenport be allowed the sum of $36 dollars for keeping Samuel & Joseph Pledger from the 18th of October 1816 to the present term as per account filed.

October Session 1817

The audited account of Joseph Pledger was returned to court by Thomas Leigh Esqr. & filed.

Ordered that Thomas Davenport be appointed guardian to Fanny Joseph & Samuel Pledger orphans of Joseph Pledger entered into bond in the sum of fifteen hundred pounds Danl. Sawyer & John Midyett securitys.

April Session 1818

Ordered that Robert Pledger sell the ballance of the perishable estate of Joseph Pledger deceased agreeable to the will & make return to next term.

January Session 1819

The guardian account of Fanny Joseph & Saml. Pledger was returned to court by Thos. Davenport their guardian & filed.

April Session 1821

Thomas Davenport guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased returned on oath in open court an account sales of the hire of negroes & rent of lands belonging to said heirs & filed.

April Session 1822

The following guardians appeared in open court & renewed their guardian bonds agreeable to the act of assembly in that case made & provided as follows viz. - -
Thomas Davenport guardian to Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger

Thomas Davenport guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger returned on oath in open court his guardian account & filed.

October Session 1823

The guardian account of the hire of negroes belonging to the heirs of Joseph Pledger was returned to court on oath by the guardian ballance due the heirs $11.75 & filed.

April Session 1824

The division of the lands belonging to Joseph Pledger deceased between the heirs was examined and ordered to be filed.

October Session 1824

Ordered that John Mydyett be appointed guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased.

Ordered that Ephraim Mann, John Thorogood and John Combs be appointed auditors to settle the accounts between Thomas Davenport deceased former guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased and the present guardian John Mydyett Esqr..

January Session 1825

Ordered that Ephraim Mann, John Thorogood and John Combs be appointed auditors to settle the accounts between Thomas Davenport deceased the former guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased and the present guardian John Mydyett and make report to the next term.

July Session 1825

Ordered that Ephraim Mann, John Thorogood and Frederick Davenport be appointed auditors to settle the accounts between Thos. Davenport deceased the former guardian to the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased and the present guardian John Midyett and make report to the next term.

April Session 1827

John Midyett returned an account of the rent of land and hire of the negroes of the heirs of Joseph Pledger deceased amout due $32.30.

January Session 1831

John Midget guardian to Jos. & Fanny Pledger returned a guardian account from 25 to 1831 & on oath also account of schooling etc.

Bond dated 9 Oct 1815 in the amount of one thousand pounds appointing Nancy Pledger administratrix of the estate of Joseph Pledger deceased, Henry Alexander Esqr. & Randall Basnight securities.

Court order January term 1817 for the sheriff to summons a jury to lay off to Thos. Davenport and wife her right of dower in land. Laying off of the dower on 5 Apr 1817 of Nancy Pledger widow of Joseph Pledger deceased. Land joins James Hoskins & Elizabeth Gregory.

Bond dated 13 Oct 1817 in the amount of fifteen hundred pounds appointing Thomas Davenport guardian of Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger orphans of Joseph Pledger deceased, Daniel Sawyer & John Midyett securities.

Bond dated 11 Jan 1819 in the amount of five hundred pounds appointing Sylba Pledger guardian to Joseph Pledger orphan of Joseph Pledger deceased, Abraham Pledger & John Alexandr Junr. securities.

Bond dated 1 Apr 1822 in the amount of one thousand pounds appointing Thomas Davenport guardian of Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger orphans of Joseph Pledger deceased John Alexander Major & John Bryant securities.

Bond dated 25 Oct 1824 in an unspecified amount appointing John Midyett guardian of Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger minor orphans, Wilson B. Hodges & Silas Davenport securities.

Summons dated the 4th Monday of January 1829 and issued 17 Mar 1829 for John Midyett to appear in court on the 4th Monday of April next. John Midyett was appointed guardian of Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger minor orphans in October term 1824. He has not appeared in court since to exhibit his account or renew the bonds, as required by act of assembly in 1820. He must renew his guardian bond or the court will appoint another guardian.

Bond dated 17 Apr 1829 in the amount of five hundre dollars appointing John Midget guardian of Fanny, Joseph & Samuel Pledger minor orphans, Charles McCleese & Edmund Alexander securities.

Petition January term 1831 by Samuel Spruill & wife Fanny and of Joseph and Samuel Pledger by their guardian John Midgett showing that they are tenants in common of two negroes, Sam and Milly, and they are desirous of having an equal and just division of the same. They would like a sale made of the two negroes and the proceeds divided into thirds for Samuel Spruill and wife Fanny, John Midgett as guardian of Joseph, and John Midgett as guardian of Samuel Pledger.
