April Session 1833

Ordered that Ephm. Mann have leave to administer on the estate of William Pledger.

Ordered that Hez. G. Spruill, Jno. Midget & Abner Alexander lay off to Betsy Pledger widow of William Pledger her years allowance out of her deceased husbands estate.

January Session 1834

E. Mann returned into court the audited account of Jos. Basnight & filed - also on oath the account of sale of Wm. Pledger.

January Session 1843

Account sales of William Pledger's land rent was returned for 1843.

Bond dated 23 Apr 1833 in the amount of two thousand dollars appointing Ephraim Mann administrator of the estate of William Pledger deceased, Samuel C. Patrick & Jos. Halsey securities.

Laying off of the year's allowance of Betsy Pledger widow of Wm. Pledger deceased on 18 May 1833.

Bond dated 27 Apr 1835 in the amount of two thousand dollars appointing Joseph Melson guardian to Lewis, Annie, Harriet & Henry Pledger orphans of William Pledger deceased, H. G. Spruill & George H. Alexander securities. (Says Joseph Pledger in one place instead of Joseph Melson. Signature is Joseph Melson.)

Petition October Term 1835 by Lewis, Ann, Harriet & Henry Pledger by their guardian Joseph Melson and Joseph Melson and wife Elizabeth Melson late Pledger who state that they are tenants in common of four negroes, girl Amy about sixteen years of age, girl Chana about nine years old, girl Aggy about twelve years old and man Obed aged about twenty eight years. They are desirous of effecting a division of the negroes by sale.

Bond dated 27 Jan 1840 in the amount of two thousand dollars appointing Joseph Melson guardian to Wm. Pledger orphan of Wm. Pledger deceased, Jno. H. Combs, James J. Pledger & H. G. Spruill securities.

Bond dated 26 Jan 1846 in the amount of five hundred dollars appointing Joseph Melson guardian to Henry Pledger, James J. Pledger & Jos. A. Spruill securities.

Bond dated 22 Jan 1849 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing John Pledger guardian to Henry Pledger, John Spruill & John McClees securities.


Transcriber's Notes:

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of William Pledger to Betsey Midyett on 15 Mar 1821, Silby Pledger security. After William's death in 1833 Betsy had married Joseph Melson by October 1835.
