Transcriber's Notes:

Selby Pledger is cited as a son of Joseph Pledger Senr. in his 1807 will. Many of the legatees of Selby Pledger are his siblings. He apparently had no children.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Martha Pledger to Jonathan Basnight on 30 Apr 1795, Joseph Perisho security; also Lois Pledger to John Garrett on 7 Jun 1812, Silby Hassell security (Lois apparently had a second marriage to an Owens); also Deborah Pledger to John Alexander on 8 Jul 1816, Jesse Alexander security; also Charlotte Pledger to William Combs on 14 Aug 1818, Frederick Davenport security; (the 1819 estate papers of William Combs show that Charlotte Combs married a Midyett after his death); Olief Pledger to Frederick Alexander on 2 Apr 1821, John Alexander security; Olive Alexander to William Melson on 12 Nov 1824, Pledger Melson security and Fanny Pledger to Samuel Spruill Junr. on 28 Dec 1830, Richard Spruill security.
