Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


January Session 1801

The audited account of the estate of Joel Norman deceased was returned in open court by Capt. Asa Phelps one of the auditors of said account and find a ballance due the estate of 22 pounds & 3 shillings ordered filed.

April Session 1805

Joseph Ansley Surveyor returned in court the plat and division of land belonging to Stephen Longs and Joel Normans heirs ordered registered.

Long, Stephen, 1793


Division dated 24 Jan 1805 pursuant to court order in October Term 1804. First the old deed given by Edward Hassell & Richard Burtenshell to James Long was surveyed. This was then divided among the representatives with lot No. 1 going to Hose Norman son of Joel Norman deceased; lots No 2 & No 3 are divided among the heirs of Stephen Long deceased agreeable to his last will and testament. Lot No 3 is the land whereon Stephen Long lived. Flyleaf says the division of Longs & Normans land.


Transcriber's Notes:
Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Joel Norman to Jemimah Alexander on 4 Jan 1790, Levi Bateman security.
It appears that Joel Norman died sometime between 1794 and 1798, a period for which no court minutes exist.
