April Session 1823

Administration on the estate of Elizabeth Nichols was committed to John Thoroughgood who entered into bond with approved security & quallified agreable to law ordered that leters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of said deceased and account for the same as the law directs.

July Session 1823

Inventory of the estate of Elizabeth Nichols deceased to amount of $67.19 1/2 cents & inventory was returne to court on oath by John Thoroughgood the administrator & filed.

January Session 1825

Ordered that Enoch Hassell, Ephraim Mann, E. Alexander and Samuel Spruill be appointed to audite and settle the estate of Betsy Nichols with John Thorogood administrator.

Bond dated 1 Apr 1823 in the amount of five hundred dollars appointing John Thoroughgood administrator of the estate of Elizabeth Nichols deceased, Saml. Leigh & Frederick Alexander securities.


Transcriber's Notes:
This is possibly the Betsy Brown who married Enoch Nichols on 14 Jan 1812, Lemuel Basnight security. The court minutes and estate papers relating to Enoch Nichols show that he died shortly after the marriage in 1813.
