Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


May Session 1775

Ordered that Precilla Nichols have administration on the estate of James Nichols deceased and that the Secretary have notice that letters of administration may issue & gives security in the sum of two thousand pounds & gives Peter Wynne & Benjn. Hassell Mrs. Nichols accordingly qualified agreeable to act of assembly.

Ordered that Mrs. Precilla Nichols be appointed guardian to Sarah Benjamin & Precila Nichols and gives security Peter Wynne & Benjamin Hassell in the sum of fifteen hundred pounds.

November Session 1775

Precilla Nichols returned on oath an inventory of the estate of James Nichols deceased.

February Session 1776

Ordered that Mrs. Preilla Nichols admr. of the estate of James Nichols sell the perishable part of said estate and make return to next court.

November Session 1777

Ordered that William Chesson higher out the plantation & negroes belonging to the estate of James Nichols deceased.

January Session 1790

Ordered that Benjamin Nichols son of James Nichols deceased be bound unto Benjamin Hassell for the term of two years or until he arrives to the age of twenty one, & that he learn the said orphan the art & mistery of a cordwinder.

Bond dated 18 May 1775 in the amount of two thousand pounds appointing administratrix of the estate of James Nickols deceased, Peter Wynne & Benjamin Hassell securities.

Bond dated 18 May 1775 in the amount of fifteen hundred pounds appointing Priscilla Nickols guardian of Sarah, Benjamin & Priscilla Nickols minor orphans of James Nickols deceased, Peter Wynne & Benjamin Hassell securities.
