February Session 1777 {There is a 1/2 year gap in minutes prior to this session}

Personally appeared Abigale Marchant widow of John Marchant deceased and prays administration granted that the said Abigale Marchant obtain letters of administration and that she enter into bond with approved security for the due administration of the said estate agreeable to law the said Abigale Marchant appeared and gave for security William Cohoon and John Johnston and entered into bond in the sum of six hundred pounds procl.

May Session 1777

Ordered that Abegale Marchant admr. of John Marchant deceased sell so much of the perishable part of the said estate as will pay the debts as the law directs.

August Session 1777

Abigale Marchant appeared in open court and quallifide as administratrix to the estate of John Marchant deceased ordered to be recorded.

Dennis Sarver & Zepheniah Sarver came into open court and made oath that they saw John Marchant deceased deliver a certain negroe named Rachal into the hands of his daughter Sarah Marchant and the first child the said negroe shall be delivered of I give to my daughter Abigail and like I give to my daughter Betty the second negroe child that shall be born of said negroe named Rachel allso I give all my stock of cattle to be divided amongst my three daughters Sarah Abigale and Betty according to their different marks.

An inventory of the estate of John Marchant deceased returned into open court was proved by the oath of Abigale Marchant.

Ordered that Abigale Marchant sell so much of the perishable part of the estate of John Marchant deceased as shall pay the debts and make returns to next court.

October Session 1781

Abigail Marchant administratrix of John Marchant deceased returns into open court her account against sd. estate and the said account was audited and a ballance to the orphans of sd. deceased is 97 ounds, 3 shillings & 10 pence.

July Session 1784

The petition of Sarah Marchant being read granted ordered that Dennis Sawyer deliver up all and singular the estate of John Marchant deceased into the hands of John Gibson Esqr. and William Cohoon for the orphans of said J. Marchant deceased that they have the care of the said orphans {rest unreadable}.
