In the name of God amen: I Solomen Mann of the County of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God, do this first day of February in the year of our Lord 1827 make & publish this my last Will and Testament in manner as follows that is to say,

1st - I lend to my well beloved wife Polly Mann all my estate real and personal during her natural life or widowhood to raise and support my children ---

2nd - I give & bequeath to my well beloved sons Solomon Mann, Samuel Mann, Lewis Mann, Thomas Mann and Edward Mann my plantation whereon I now live and all the lands thereunto belonging the said land to be equally divided at the death or marriage of my wife - Soloman Mann to take his equal part on my northwest line joining Joseph Manns land. Thos. Mann to have his equal part to join Soloman Manns, Edward Mann to have his equal part to join Thomas, Lewis Mann to have his equal part to join Edwards Samul Mann to have his equal part to join Lewis on the northwest and John Midgetts line on the southeast.

3d - I give to my daughter Sally Caroon the land I own on Spencers point and at the division of my estate my desire is that all my children should have as much as to make them equal with the value of the land I gave her and the land I own on Bodies Island and all my estate at the death or marriage of my wife to be sold at a credit of six months, and equal division to take place among all my children share and share alike Solomon Mann, Sally Caroon, Samul Mann, Lewis Mann, Polly Alexander, Thos. Mann , Edward Mann, Aner Mann..

Lastly and I hereby make and ordain my well beloved wife Polly Mann and Edward Mann my executor & executrix in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1830

The last will & testament of Soloman Mann Senr. deceased was exhibited in open court & proven by the oath of Joseph Mann a subscribing witness thereto who swore also that he saw John Mason & Edward Mann sign the same as subscribing witnesses thereto. At the same time appeared Mary Mann and qualified executrix thereto.

April Session 1831

Mary Mann executrix of Soloman Mann returned the account of sale on oath of her husband's estate.
