In the name of God Amen. The twenty seventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five I Joseph Man of the province of North Carolina and county of Tyrrel planter, being in reasonable helth and in perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for it but calling to mind the mortality of the and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, I do therefore constitute make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the disretion of my executors and as to such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased almighty God to bless me in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, viz. First my will is that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and settled by my executors as soon as they conveniently can after my decease - -

Item. I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Mary Man one negro girl called Judith likewise one third part of all the rest of my estate both real and personal to her and her heirs I also give my dwelling house on my plantation whereon I now live to my said wife during her life or widdowhood. I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann one negro boy called Jack to her and her heirs for ever. I give to my son Joseph a certain tract or parcel of land lying to the southward of my brother Thomas Man's, which belongs to me. I also give to my sd son Joseph one negro boy called Pompy to him and his heirs for ever. I give to my son Samuel one negro boy called Lennon to him and his heirs for ever. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary one negro boy called Canser to her and her heirs for ever. I give and bequeath to my son Samuel my manor plantation to him and his heirs for ever, my will is that my brother Thomas may have liberty to get his fire wood off of my land during his life I also give my sister Dorothy liberty to get her fire wood on my land during her life time or widdowhood. I give to my four children Ann, Joseph, Mary, and Samuel all the rest of my lands lying on Roan Oak Island to them and their heirs for ever my will also is that my three negros Canser, Bet & Harry be sold at public vendue, also that the two thirds of my estate be equally divided among my four children Ann, Joseph, Mary and Samuel, but if my wife should be with child I desire it to have an equal share of my estate with the rest of my children, and lastly I do hereby constitute, ordain and appoint my loving wife, my brother Thomas Man and Theophilus Man to be my only and sole executors & executrix to this my last will and testament and I do here by disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills, and legacies bequests and executors by me any way before this time named, willed, and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written

Personally appeared John Neal a subscribing witness & made oath on the Holy Evangelist of almighty that he saw & heard Joseph Mann sign seal publish pronounce & declare this writing to be and contain his last will and testament and further saith that at that time he was of sound and disposing mind & memory & that he saw Samuel Smith make his mark.
