In the name of God Amen ye ninetenth day of Febuary in ye year of our Lord 1742/3 I John Man of ye provance of North Carolina and county of Tyrrill planter being very ailing and weak in body but of perfict mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind ye mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into ye hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christain like manner at the disretion of my executors nothing doubting but at ye general resurrection I shall receve ye same again by ye mighty power of God and touching such wordly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of ye same in ye following maner and form.

First I will that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied by my exeutors in a conveant time after my deceas -

Item) I give and devise and bequeath unto my son John Man and his heirs one shilling starling -

Item) I give devise and dispose unto my son William Man ye half of that survay of land called by ye name of Godfrys to him his heirs and assigns forever -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Theophalas Man that survay of land on ye south side of Mefree (?) Creek knone by ye name of Volls Island to him and his heirs and assigns forever -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Man ye sothermost parte of my maner plantation begining at a black walnot tree where ye son lives and runing neare southwest to ye hed of ye line to him and his heirs and assigns for ever -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Man a sartain parsell of land joyning to my son Edwards on ye south side of his land containing aboute two hundred achors more or less to him and his heirs and assigns for ever -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Man ye other part of my maner plantation begining at ye black walnot tree joyning on Edward Mans plantation and running notherly on ye sound side to a siprus pond to him his heirs and assigns for ever-

Item) I give and bequeath unto my five sons William Theophalas Edward Thomas and Joseph all ye rest of my lands on Roneoak and Croatan to be eaqually devided betwixt them to them and there heirs and assighns for ever -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Dorrity Oneel one shilling starling -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Man one shilling starling -

Item) I give unto my wife Margit ye use of ye half of my son Josephs plantation wich is my maner plantation during her natural life or widdohod and likewise the thirds of all my persanal estate of goods and chatels after my deceas and my lawful debts and funaral charges being paid by my executor -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Read twenty pounds lawful mony of this provance -

Item) I give and devise that all my neagros be valued by two or three honest men by my sons or ye major part of them to be chosen and that my three sons Theoflas Edward and Joseph have of ye neegoras they paying unto their two brothers their propertisinable part as if sd neagros shall be then valued to -

Item) I give and bequeath unto my fore sons Theoplas Edward Thomas and Joseph all ye rest of my estate with in and without of goods and chatels to be equally devided between them of (?) I likewise conestute and ordain my three sons Theoplas Edward and Joseph to be my only and sole executors of this my last will and testament and do heare by uterly disalow revolk and disanul all and every other former testament wills and legacies bequests and executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifie and confirming this and nother to be my last will and testament and in witness wheareof I have heareunto set my hand and seeal the day and year above writen -

Writing is very faint, but it appears this will was proved at the Tyrrell County March court in 1744 by Benjamin Bidgood and that Theophilas Man, Joseph Man and Edward Man qualified as executors.
