October Session 1831

Ordered that Wm. Meekins be appointed administrator on the estate of John Meekins Senr. security ordered by the court Hezk. G. Spruill & John D. Liverman.

January Session 1832

Wm. Meekins administrator of John Meekins returned the inventory and account of sale of said estate on oath in open court.

The years allowance of the widow of John Meekins was returned into court & filed.

April Session 1832

William Meekins administrator of Jno. Meekins returned an account of sales of negro Tom etc. on oath.

April Session 1833

Jos Halsey clerk reported to this court the sale of the negroes of Thomas Meekins deceased spld by an order of this court to make distribution among the heirs ? amount $767.00.
The sale of the negroes of Jno. Meekins sold for the same purpose and the foregoing amount ? $830.71.
Also the negroes of Edward Hunnings deceased sold likewise for the same purpose amount ? $877.73 report confirmed.

October Session 1833

Wm. Meekins administrator of Jno. Meekins returned into court an audited account of said estate.

Bond dated 24 Oct 1831 in the amount of two thousand five hundred dollars in which William Meekins is appointed administrator of the estate of John Meekins deceased, Hezekiah G. Spruill & Simeon Brickhouse securities.

Laying off of the years allowance out of the estate of John Meekins deceased for his widow Hannah Meekins and family on 3 Nov 1831.

Petition January Term 1832 by William Meekins administrator of John Meekins deceased who states that he has settled the claims against the estate so far as he has assets in hand and the perishable estate is insufficient to pay the debts against the estate. He prays an order to sell negro man Thomas in order to pay the debts of the estate.

Petition October Term 1832 by Isaac Asa Elizabeth Ann Mary Hannah Rosa & Hannah Meekins the widow of John Meekins who are the heirs at law of John Meekins deceased. Asa Meekins died on {blank} 1832 and that George H. Alexander administered upon his estate. John Meekins died possessed of several negroes and petitioners pray an order to sell the said negroes so a division may be made among the petitioners.

Undated court order to sell the negroes of John Meekins at six months credit.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in October 1832 and issued 25 Dec 1832 for David M. Sargent, William Alfred & Dempsy Godfrey to appear in court on the fourth Monday in January next to answer the plea of William Meekins administrator of Jno. Meekins that they render unto him the sum of $180.05 which David M. Sargent owes and detains to his damage $50.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in January 1833 and issued 15 Feb 1833 for David M. Sargent to appear in court on the fourth Monday in April 1833 to answer the plea of William Meekins administrator of Jno. Meekins that he render unto him the sum of $180.05 which they owe and detain to his damage $50.

Bond dated 5 Mar 1833 in the amount of $360 for David M. Sargent to appear in court on the fourth Monday in April next to answer to William Meekins administrator of Jno. Meekins of a plea that he render unto him the $180.05 which he owes and detains to his damage $100. John Haughton security.

Bill of sale dated 24 Jul 1833 in which sells negro Tom to Hannah Meekins for $180.05. This is the same negro David M. Sargent bought at the administrator's sale of Jno. Meekins. Witnessed and proved by Henry Gibson and recorded on 15 Mar 1846.

Petition July Term 1841 by Thomas P. Gibson who states that he married Mary Meekins who states that John Meekins died seized and possessed of a tract of land containing 218 acres more or less adjoining the lands of Henry Gibson and others the John Meekins left your petitioner Mary now wife of Thomas P. Gibson Hannah Rosa Isaac & Betsy. Petitioner states that Betsy Meekins married Starky H. Norman that Rosa married William I. Liverman Hannah Meekins married Joseph Gibson. Betsy sold to Joseph Gibson and Rosa Liverman owns the share of Isaac Meekins. Petitioner prays a division of the lands among the heirs at law.
