On the fourth day of Court April Term 1790 (April 8th) in Tyrrell County Pleas and Quarters Court minutes on page 67:

Ordered that John Meekings have leave of administration on the estate of Isaac Meekins dec'd his brother and give bond in £ 1000 Samuel Gibson & John Simmons securities pd

Also the said John Meekings adm returns into Court an inventory of the estate of Isaac Meekings decd on Oath, ordered filed

Ordered that John Meekins adm of Isaac Meekins decd have leave to sell the Estate of the said Isaac Meekings decd and make return next court

Ordered that Isaac Meekings Jr, John Poole & John Liverman be appointed to divide the estate of Isaac Meekings Sr decd among the representatives of the said deceased and make returns next court

In Obedience to your Worships Order that we the Dividers have met and Divided the Estate of Isaac Meekings Junr Deceased amongst the Heirs to Wit the Land Divided as follows Mr John Meekings to have 32 ½ Acres of Swamp on Gum Neck Creek Thomas Meekings 32 ½ Acres of Swamp on Gum Neck Creek William Meekings and Joseph Meekings to have 14 ½ Acres of Swamp Each on the Lukaho Creek and Joshua and Benjn to have 12 ½ Acres of Swamp each laying on the East side of the Allagator River ajoining their Fathers Corner also to the Amount of eighteen pounds & eight mancy? In goods to Each of the Heirs under Age to Wit Joseph Willm Joshua Keziah and Benjaman Meekings and the said property is left in there Fathers Hands

Ordered that William Meekins have administration on the estate of Joshua Meekins Benjamin Meekins and Keziah Meekins deceased orphans of Isaac Meekins Senr and has given bond in the sum of fifty pounds Joseph White & Eisha Galloway his ?***?

Know all men by these presents, that William Meekins Joseph White and Elisha Galloway are held and firmly bound unto Benjamin Spruill chairman of the County Court of Tyrrell in the just and full sum of fifty pound current money of the State aforesaid, to be paid to the said Chairman, his successors or assigns: to which payment well and truly made, we do bind ourselves, each of us, our and each of our heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 15 day of October one thousand eight hundred and eleven.

The condition of this obligation is such, That if the above bound William Meekins administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Joshua Meekins, Benj Meekins, Keziah Meekins deceased, do make or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, knowledge or possession of the said William Meekins or into the hands or possession any person or persons for him, and the same so made, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited into Tyrrell County Court, within the time prescribed by law, after the date of these presents; and the same goods, chattels and credits, and all other the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased, at the time of his death, which at any time hereafter shall come into the hands or possession of the said William Meekins or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him, do well and truly administer according to law; and further do make, or cause to be made a true and just account of his said administration agreeable to law, after the date of these presents; and all the rest and residue of the said goods, chattels and credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said administrator account (the same being first examined and allowed by the Government and Council, Superior or County Court) shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively, as the same shall become due, pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the act in that case made and provided. And if it shall appear that any will or testament was made by the deceased, and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the same in Court, making request to have it allowed and approved of accordingly, if the said William Meekins above bounden being thereunto required, do render and deliver said letters on administration (approbation of such testament being first had and made in the said court) then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

Ordered that Thomas Hoskins John Pool Esqrs. John Liverman Senr. or either two be appointed be appointed to divide and settle the estates of Isaac Meekins Junr. and Benjamin Handcock and make returns to next court.
