January Session 1828

On motion ordered that administration on the estate of Thos. C. Madox deceased be committed to Jno. Midyett & that he enter into bond suficient security.

January Session 1829

John Midgett administrator of Thos. C. Madox returned in open court the inventory & account of sales of said estate amount $106.76.

Bond dated 29 Jan 1828 in the amount five hundred dollars appointing John Midyett administrator of the estate of Thomas C. Madox deceased, Richd. Howett & Chas. McClees securities.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in January 1828 and issued 7 Feb 1828 for Enoch Hassell & John Midgitt administrator of Thos. C. Maddocks deceased to appear at April court to answer unto governor James Iredell in a plea that they render unto him the sum of four thousand dollars which they owe and detain to his damage sixty dollars.

Summons in term time at April court 1828 for B. W. Hallsy & Jos. Hallsy to produce the constable bond of Thos. C. Madox immediately and testify on behalf of the governor & William Wynne in a matter of controversy with Eph. Mann and others.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in July 1828 and issued 3 Sep 1828 for Ephraim Mann, Frederic Davenport, Enoch Hassell & John Midyett administrator of Thos. C. Madox deceased to appear at April court to answer unto the governor to the use of William Wynne in a plea that they render unto him the sum of four thousand dollars which they owe and detain to his damage one hundred dollars.

Adjustment of the account of Thomas C. Madox in the hands of John Midyett administrator. Amount of estate includes the sales of tools of copartnership, sales of the private estate, debts due from Uzziel Brickhouse, James McAlister, Henry Alexander, E. Melson, Edwd. Owens, John Combs, Jeremiah Wynne, John Alexander, Ephm. Mann, Abrm. Pledger, Wm. Pledger, John Midyett, Jos. Midyett, Sarah Etheridge, James Snell, Barney Bowers & Saml. Rogers all totalling $288.82. There are also accounts found on scraps of paper and not in any book which are generally disputed and amount to $11.36. These are from Saml. Spruill, James Sivills, Sandford Etheridge, Nancy Alexander Jr., Margery Owens & John Alexander. Debts of the estate include judgements owed E. Hassell & Wm. Etheridge, attorney's fees of Peter Picott, claim of Leml. Basnight, court expenses (letters of administration), account of John Midyett for sickness & burial, retainer of John Midyett, accounts owed John Combs, Edwd. Owens, E. P. Melson, Jeremiah Wynne, Spencer Combs and James Snell and commissions on the estate. Balance in the hands of the administrator was $33.80. Signed on 20 Jan 1829 by Edmd. Alexander.
