In the name of God Amen: I Allen Alexander of the County of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament as follows:

lfr - I give and bequeath to my son David Alexander one horse and one cow and her increase all of which I have already possessed him with also one bed bed stead & furniture.

2nd - I give and bequeath to my son Alfred Alexander one mare & one cow & her increase all of which I have already possessed him with also one bed bed stead & furniture:

3 third -I give & bequeath to my son Henry Alexander one mule & one cow & her increase all of which I have already possessed him with also one bed & bed stead & furniture:

4th - I give and bequeath to my daughter Mahala Cahoon and to my two sons Allen Alexander and Maximillian Alexander the plantation whereon I formerly resided lying on the west side of Wm. Pettigrews Bee Tree Canal between said canal & South Fork Creek with all the improvements thereon & also a tract of land lying on the east of the aforesaid Bee Tree Canal containing two hundred and fifteen acres more or less also a small piece of swamp land being a part of the Buck Head Swamp it being the land I purchased from Maximilian Tatem to be equally divided between them:-

5th- I give and bequeath to my daughter Mahala Cahoon one cow & her increase which I have already possessed her with one bed bed stead and furniture one horse or mule or one hundred & fifty dollars in lien of said horse or mule as she may prefer. -

6th- I give & bequeath to my son Nathan Alexander one young horse called Jack Morgan one cow & her increase all of which I have already possessed him with also one bed bedstead & furniture:-

7th- I give & bequeath to my son Maximillian Alexander one horse or mule or one hundred & fifty dollars as he may prefer instead of said horse or mule & one bed bedstead & furniture & one cow and calf.

8th- I give and bequeath to my son Allen Alexander one horse or mule or one hundred and fifty dollars as he may prefer instead of said horse or mule & also one bed bedstead & furniture & one cow & calf.

10- I give and bequeath to each of those of my children who may be with me and assisting me at the time of my death one year sufficient in provisions.

llth- I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate to my seven children to be equally divided among them.

12- I nominate and appoint my son David Alexander executor to this my last will and testament and guardian to my two sons Allen & Maximillian Alexander:

Witness whereof my hand & seal this 15 day of Novr. A D 1866. Signed sealed published and declared in the presents of us to be his last will and testament who at his request and in his presents do subscribe our names thereto.

A paper writing purporting to to be the last will and testament of Allen Alexander deces,d is exhibited for probate in open court by David Alexander the executor in named & the execution thereof by the said Alexander is proved by the oath and examination of B.F. Owens one of the subscribing witnesses thereto it is thereupon considered by the court that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the last will & testament of the said Allen Allexander & the same is ordered to be recorded and filed: and thereupon the said David Alexander executor as aforesaid duly qualified as such by taking the oath required by law.
