Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


January Session 1825

Ordered that administration be granted to Bartlett Jones on the estate of Timothy Jones Junr. when he entered into bond and gave as security Timothy Jones Senr. & Joseph White which securities were approved of and accepted by the court.

Ordered that Bartlett Jones administrator sell so much of the personal estate of Timothy Jones Jr. as will satisfy the debts of the said deceased and make return as the law directs.

July Session 1826

Ordered that John Beasley Esqr. David Clayton & Joseph White be appointed to audite & settle the estate of Timothy Jones with Bartlett Jones administrator.

January Session 1827

Ordered that Jno. A. Patrick, Jos. White & Charles McCleese be appointed to audite the accounts of the estate of Timothy Jones Junr. with the administrator Bartlett Jones.

April Session 1827

Bartlett Jones return the audited account of the estate of Timothy Jones Junr. with nothing due the estate.

To the Sheriff of Tyrrell County

Greetings,

Whereas an Execution was returned to January Term 1826 in favor of Josiah Sawyer vs. Timothy Jones Jr, levied on the lands 10th. Jany. 1826 adjoining the land of Joseph White for the sum of $ 9.84. You are therefore commanded to summons Ashberry Jones and Timothy Jones heirs at law of Timothy Jones Jr., to personally be and appear at the next Court of Pleas and Quarterly Sessions to be held for the County of Tyrrell at the Court House in Columbia on the 4th. Monday of April next. Then and there to show cause if any they can, why the plantiff shall not have judgement and execution against the lands.

And this you shall in no way omit and then and there show how you have executed this Writ.

Witnessed Wilson B. Hodges Clerk of the County Court of Tyrrell County as officer.
4th Monday of January 1826 of Independence of said State the 50th.

January 4, 1826…commanded to summon Ashberry Jones and Timothy Jones heirs at law of Timothy Jones Jr. to appear. Court in favor of Benjamin Powers vs. Timothy Jones Jr. for $ 11.30 which was levied on a Cypress Swamp adjoining David Clayton and Charles Hoskins.

April Term 1826 … John Oliver vs. estate of Timothy Jones. { torn } levied on lands joining Spencer Armstrong by name of Corbin Ridge. Commanded to summons Ashberry Jones and Timothy Jones heirs of Timothy Jones Jr.
