Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1822

Administration on the estate of Jobe Johnson deceased was committed to James McKilister who entered into bond with aproved security & quallified agreeable to law - ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of the said deceased and account for the same as the law directs.

Ordered that Samuel Spruill Thomas Leigh John Thoroughgood be appointed to alot & lay off to Charity Johnson widow of Jobe Johnson one years provision out of the estate of said deceased agreeable to act of assembly & make report to the next term.

January Session 1823

Inventory & account sales of Jobe Johnson deceased was returned in open court on oath & ordered filed.

July Session 1824

Ordered that John Thorogood, Ephraim Mann, and Amos Thorogood be appointe to audite and settle the estate of Job Johnson with James McCallister the administrator and make returns to the next term.

Bond dated 1 Jul 1822 in the amount of two hundred and fifty pounds appointing James McAlister administrator of the estate of Jobe Johnson deceased, John Thoroughgood & Frederick Davenport securities.

Note dated 22 Jul 1822 for $8.42 in which John Alexander, Gibeon Alexander & James Davenport promise to pay said amount after six months to James McAlister administrator of Job Johnson deceased, John Tweedy witness.

Summons issued 12 Jun 1828 for Abraham Pledger administrator of John Alexander deceased, Gibeon Alexander & James Davenport to appear at court on the 28th to answer the complaint of James McAlister administrator of Job Johnson to the use of Lemuel Basnight to a plea of debt by note of $8.42 plus $5 in damages.
