Dated 11 October 1822

In the name of God amen: I Azall Johnson in the County and State aforesaid being weak and low in body but of sound mind and memory and of free disposing intelectual faculties but calling to mind the uncertainty of life and certainty of death do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner & form following that is to say first of all I recomend my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the ground to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executors and as touching what worldy goods it pleased God to bless me with I dispose of as follows Viz. I give unto my loving wife Elizabeth Johnson all my estate during her life time or widdowhood at her death I leave all my lands to my son James Johnson and one horse colt called Jack unto him and his heirs forever and I nominate constitute and appoint my wife Elizabeth Johnson my whole & sole Executrix to this my last will & testament in Testimoney whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. This 11 day of October 1822.

This will was exhibited in open court & duly proved by the Oath of Col. Richard Howett who also swore that he saw Jessie Alexander the other subscribing witness sign the same as concurring evidence thereto & the same was ordred to be recorded same time appeared Elizabeth Johnson the Executrix therein named & quallified in due form of same.

April Session 1823

The last will & testament of Azael Johnson was exhibited & proved in open court by the oath of Col. Richard Howett one of the subscribing witnesses thereto same time appeared Betsy Johnson the executrix therein named & quallified agreeable to law ordered that letters testamentary issue thereon with a coppy of the will annexed.

July Session 1823

Inventory & account sales of the estate of Azael Johnson was returned to court on oath amount of account sales $153.63 1/3 cents notes inventoried to amount $37.83 cents & filed.

April Session 1824

On motion ordered that Frederick Davenport, Richard Howett and Matthew Brickhouse and Benjamin Brickhouse be appointed to audite and settle the accounts existing between the estate of Azael Johnson and his executrix and make report to next term.

Summons issued 8 Feb 1828 for Jos. Halsey guardian ad litem of Sally, Polly, Betsy, Ann & James Johnson heirs at law of Azael Johnson deceased to appear at the next court session to show cause why execution should not issue against the lands of said deceased.
