November Session 1768

Roberson Marriner exhibited and on his oath proved an inventory of the estate of William Howett deceased ordered to be filed.

On motion of Roberson Marriner by his attorney Mr. Wiriot Ormand it is ordered that the aforesd. Roberson Marriner sell the perishable estate of William Howett deceased and make return to the next court.

On motion of Mr. Wiriot Ormand ordered in behalf of Roberson Marriner for division of the estate of William Howett ordered that John Hooker Esqr. Benj. Spruill & Joseph Spruill Esq. William Phillips or either three of them divide the same according to law & make return to our next court.

February Session 1769

On motion of Wyrot Ormand on behalf of Roberson Marriner administrator of William Howett deceased for an order of sale of the perishable estate ordred granted that Roberson Marriner sell the perishable estate of the sd. deceased & make return to our next court.

Personally appeared {blank} and exhibited an account of sale of the estate of William Howett deceased and proved the same on his oath ordered to be filed.

November Session 1769

Peter Wynne exhibited an account of sale of the goods and chattels of William Howett deceased and proved the same on his oath ordered to be filed.

February Session 1770

Ordered that the following perform a division of the estate of William Howett deceased William Barns and Edward Baptist William Barns Junr. William Edward to divide the same or any three of them & make return to our next court.

May Session 1770

Jos. Hassell exhibited a division of the negros belonging to the estate of William Howett deceased ordered to be filed.

February Session 1772

Roberson Marriner is appointed guardain to Mary Howett, Elizabeth Howett, & William Howett, & Zilpha Howett and enters {nothing further}.

February Session 1773

Personally appeared Jos. Wyatt and settled his account as guardain of the children of William Howett deceased.

August Session 1774

Ordered that Joseph Wyatt be appointed guardian to Zilpha Howett Betsy Howett & Mary Howett orphans of William Howett deceased he entered into bond with Joseph Spruill Esqr. & Mr. Peter Wynne in the sum of four hundred pounds.

Ordered that Joseph Spruill & John Warrington Esqrs. & Benjamin Spruill & Peter Wynne divide the estate of William Howett & return the same to next court & the said gentlemen audit the accounts of Joseph Wyatt guardian to the orphans of the said William Howett Robinson Marriner who intermarried with the widow of the said William Howett.

November Session 1774

Ordered that Ann Marriner be appointed guardian to Zilpha Howett & Betsy Howett & Mary Howett mother children & gives security John Hopkins & Leven Rhodes security in the sum six hundred pounds.

February Session 1775

Jeremiah Frazer Esqr. returned into open court the division of the estate William Howett deceased.

May Session 1776

Ann Marriner guardian of the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased exhibited her acounts by which it appears that the hire of the negroes belonging to said estate are just sufficient to defray the expense of maintenance of aforesaid orphans.

August Session 1778

Ordered that Ann Davenport be cited to appear to next court to settle her administration accts. of William Howett deceased.

Peter Wynne appeared in open court and exhibited on oath an account of sales of William Howett deceased and ordered to be filed.

Ordered that James Davenport rent out the plantation of William Howett deceased.

November Session 1778

Ordered that James Davenport settle the accounts of the estate of William Howett deceased and make returns to next court.

Ordered that Mr. Peter Wynne be appointed guardain to Betsy & Mary Howett orphans of William Howett deceased.

Mr. Peter Wynne appeared in open court as guardain to Betsy & Mary Howett and gave security William Howett and John Wynne in a bond of 1,000 pounds as guardain to said orphans.

February Session 1779

Personally appeared James Davenport and exhibited an inventory on oath of part of the estate of Wm. Howett deceased ordered to be filed.

Ordered that James Davenport sell the perishable part of the estate of Wm. Howett agreeable to inventory.

Ordered that Mr. Peter Wynne guardain to Elizabeth Howet and Mary Howet orphans of Willm. Howet deceased take into his hands the part of the estate of said orphans.

Ordered that Mr. James Devenport be sited to next court to render his accounts of the estate of Betsy Howett & Mary Howett orphans of Willm. Howett he has in his hands.

April Session 1779

An account of sales of the estate of Wm. Howett deceased was exhibited into open court and proved by the oath Joseph Phelps Junr. ordered to be filed.

July Session 1779

On motion of Mr. Jno. Johnston atty. ordered that the acct. of Ann Howett extrx of Wm. Howett deceased against the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased be audited by James Anderson Hez. Spruill and John Hooker and they to make return to this court.

Ordered that Mr. Peter Wynne hire a negro man named Robert the property of the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased to the highest bider for the benefit of said orphans.

Ordered that the successors of Ann Howett deceased settle the guardain accts. of the estate of Wm. Howett deceased and make return to next court.

Ordered that Mr. James Devenport pay to the guardian of the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased the hire of nine months for a negro man named Bob at the rate of forty pounds a year.

October Session 1779

Mr. James Devenport exhibits his acct. against the estate of Wm. Howet deceased and there appears to be due to said Mr. James Devenport the sum of 46 pounds & 8 pence - ordered to be filed.

On motion of Mr. Peter Wynne the court orders that James Swain Joseph Spruill Hez. Spruill & Stephen Swain be appointed to divid the estate of Wm. Howett deceased between Zilpha Howett Elizth. Howett and Mary Howett orphans of Wm. Howett deceased and make return to next court.

Agreeable to an order of last court James Anderson Jno. Hooker and Hez. Spruill Esqrs. audited the acct. records of Wm. Howetts estate retd. by James Devenport admor and there appears a ballance due to said estate the sum of 17 pounds, 12 shillings & 8 pence - ordered to be filed.

Mr. James Devenport exhibited an acount against the estate of William Howett deceased on oath wherein it appears that he paid Peter Wynne the hire of a negro man named Robt. agreeable to order of last term - ordered to be filed.

January Session 1780

The division of two negroes of the estate of Wm. Howett deceased exhibited into open court by Peter Wynne ordered to be filed.

July Session 1780

Ordered that the negro man Bob belonging to the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased be hired out to the highest bider.

October Session 1780

Peter Wynne guardian to the orphans of Wm. Howett deceased exhibits his account of the right and credits between him and the said orphans and there appears due to Betsey Howett and Mary Howett the sum of 935 pounds & 10 shillings and there appears the sum of 20 pounds & 10 shillings for rent of a plantation for two years which will be expired the second day of January next - ordered to be filed.

October Session 1782

Mary Howett appeared in open court and chose Joshua Tarkngton guardain to Mary Howett appeared in open court and gave in security John Wynne & John Hassell in a bond of 500 pounds specie.

April Session 1783

Ordered that John Wynne & Robt. Wynne executors of Peter Wynne deceased render an account to next court of the estate of Mary Howett whom the aforesaid Peter Wynne was guardian to.
