Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1811

Ordered that James Hoskins take the property of William Hatfield out of the possession of his widdow.

Ordered that Sally Hatfield be appointed guardian to Frederick Hatfield & Hetty Hatfield heirs and orphans of William Hatfield and has given bond in the sum of two hundred pounds Shadrick Alcock and Jeremiah Phelps securities.

October Session 1811

Ordered that James McKabe have leave of administration on the estate of William Hatfield deceased and has given bond in the sum of two hundred pounds Jeremiah Gyles & Jeremiah Phelps securities.

January Session 1812

An inventory of the residue of the estate of Wm. Hatfield was returned to court in order to be filed.

April Session 1812

Ordered that William Tarkenton deliver all the papers that he received by order of the court belonging to the estate of William Hatfield to Levi Batman agreeable to consent of the administrator.

October Session 1812

William Tarkinton who received the notes due the estate of William Hatfield deceased has returned by order of this court the following notes to wit Jonathan Robinson note L 2-1-8 James McKabe's note L 50 Joseph Spruill's note L 1-10-1 Frederick Spruill's note L 6-3-7 William Mason's note L 3-0-2 Peter S. Swain note L 1-7-6 filed till further orders of this court.

The court ordered that the clerk deliver the following notes to William Davenport administrator of Ann Davenport deceased viz.
One note for one hundred dollars signed James McKabe William Hatfield and Hezekiah Spruill dated the 31st Decr 1807.
One note for the sum of three pounds, 6 shillings & 7 pence signed by William Hatfield and Frederick Spruill dated the 8th November 1809.
One note for the sum of one pound ten shillings and 1 penny signed by Joseph Spruill and Alexander Oliver dated the 8th Novr 1809.
One note for the sum of three pounds and 2 pence signed by William Mason Gidion Alexander and Thos. Fagan dated the 8th Novr 1809.
One note for the sum of two pounds, 1 shilling & 8 pence signed by Jonathan Robinson and John Batman and dated the 8th Novr 1809.
And one note for the sum of one pound, 7 shillings & 6 pence signed by Peter S. Swain and Jonathan Robinson dated the 8th Novr 1809.
Total sum of the above six notes 61 pounds & 6 shillings.
Justices present when the above order was passed Richard Wood Richard Davis Henry Alexander and Joseph Ansley Esqrs.
Received the above notes to the amount of sixty one pounds & 6 shillings of Charles Spruill Clerk of Tyrrell County Court this 14th October 1812. William -x- Davenport Test Henry Alexander
Henry Alexander Esqr. protests against the above order as elegal in open court.

July Session 1813

Ordered that Frederick Hatfield be bound to Nathaniel Broughton to learn the art and mistery of house carpenter & joiner and be learned to read write & cypher as far as the rule of three.

Ordered that Thomas Weatherly William Clough and Solomon Hassell Esqr. be appointed to audite the estate of William Hatfield deceased and make return to next court.

July Session 1814

Ordered that James Hoskins Esqr. Levi Bateman & Jas. Wood audite the accounts of Wm. Hatfield deceased with James McCabe the administrator & make return to next term.

October Session 1814

The audited account of William Hatfield deceased was returned to court and ordered filed.

Bond dated 9 Jul 1811 in the amount of two hundred pounds appointing Sally Hatfield guardian of Frederick Hatfield & Hetty Hatfield orphans of William Hatfield deceased, Shadrack Alcock & Jeremiah Phelps securities.
