In the name of God Amen: 13 February 1781. Benjamin Hassel of the state of North Carolina and County of Tyrrel being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for it and calling to mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principle and first I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my Ex's hereafter mentioned and as for my worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this world I give demis and dispose of in the manner and form following.

Imprimes - I give and bequeath to my well beloved friend John Bray one cow called Star & her calf also one hundred acres of entried land and one hundred & fifteen acres of Juniper Swamp.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved friend Michal Whitson one hundred acres of entred land and one hundred & fifteen acres of Juniper Swamp.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved friend James Best one hundred & fifteen acres of Juniper Swamp.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved friend Isaac Bray one two year old hiffer.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved friend John Bray one feather bedd and furniture.

Item - I give and bequeath all the rest of my worldly goods to my dearly beloved wife Susannah Hassell in during life or marriage then to my Cousen Joseph Hassell the son of my brother John Hassell and lastly I ordain my wife Susanna Hassell and my friend John Bray whole and sole Executor & Executrix to this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & date above.

George Orom appeared in open court and proved the last wil and testament of Benjn. Hassell deceased.

Mr. John Bray appeared in open court and qualified as executor to the last will and testament of Benjn. Hassell and ordered that letters issue.
