In the name of God amen: I Winiford Hoskins, of the county of Tyrrel and State of N. Carolina, do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, revoking all others heretofore made by me, confirming this & this only-

1st. I give and bequeath to my grand children, the heirs of my daughter Nancy, the sum of hundred dollars to be equally divided among them-

2nd- I give and bequeath to my grand children, the heirs of my son John Hoskins dcd. the sum of five dollars to be equally divided among them-

3rd- I give and bequeath to my daughter Fanny Thomas, one negro girl by the name of Jane- to have and to hold unto her & her heirs forever-

4th- I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Hoskins, one negro woman by the name of Morning to have and to hold unto her and her heirs forever-

5th- I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Hoskins, one negro man by the name of Reubin, and one negro woman by the name of Lydia- to have and to hold unto him & his heirs forever-

6th- I give and bequeath to my daughter Silvia Hoskins, one negro girl by the name of Pleasant- to have and to hold unto her and her heirs forever-

I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth, one cow & calf-

8th- I give in trust to my son Joseph Hoskins, one negro boy by the name of Freeman, to be kept by him for the use of my several children mentioned above, until the time that my youngest grand child, the child of Benjamin Hoskins arrives at the age of twenty one years, then I desire that the said negro boy Freeman, be sold and the money arising from the sale to be equally divided among my grand child or grand children the heirs of Benjamin Hoskins dcd-

It is my desire that my son Joseph Hoskins shall at the time of my death have one half of all the provisions on hand, and one half of the growing crop if any- all the remaining part of my property of any kind, I desire to be sold by my executor on a credit of six months, and the proceeds to be equally divided between my children who are living at the time of my death-

I hereby constitute & appoint my son Joseph Hoskins sole executor to this my last Will and Testament In testimony before signed- Given under my hand and seal this the 9th day of February 1855-

The due execution of the foregoing paper writing was duly proved in open court by the oath of Jesse Sanderson one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and was admitted to probate as the last Will and Testament of Winiford Hoskins, duly & formally executed to pass real and personal estate, and to be recorded- at the same time Joseph Hoskins appeared and qualified in open court as executor thereto-
