In the name of God Amen I Zachariah Hunnings of the state of North Carolina Tyrrel county being very sick and weak for or in perfect health of body but or and of perfect mind and memmory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of allmighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in desent Christian burial at the descretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give demise and despose of in the following manner and form -

First I desire that Sariah my dearly beloved wife shall have the use of my estate during her life time or widowhood then to be desposed as follows -

Secodly I give and bequeath to Phillip Hunnings my beloved son the plantation and woodland thereunto belonging that did formerly belong to Wm. Twyford at the Lake -

Thirdly I give to Jesse Hunnings my beloved son the river plantation with the woodland and half of the middle plantation -

Fourthly I give to my beloved son Thomas Hunnings the upper plantation with the woodland belonging and the remaining part of the middle plantation which three plantation are to be equally divided them -

Fifthly I give and bequeath to Edward Hunnings my beloved son the plantation where I now live with the house and the woodland to the southwest joining Adam Owens line allso fifty acres at uperend of the land joining Zachariah Owens -

Sixthly I give and bequeath to Jesse Hunnings Thomas Hunnings and Edward Hunnings one hundred acres of woodland joining the said fifty acres which I leave to be equally divided with fifty acres of sypress swam joining Joseph Brown and one hundred acres of juniper swamp joining Jno. Smith which are to be equally divided among the same three youngest brothers as afore mentioned -

Seventhly I give and bequeath to Ann Roughton my beloved daughter one negro wench named Bett

Eightly I give and bequeath to Charlotte Hunnings my beloved daughter one negro wench named Sook -

Ninthly I desire that remainder part of my estate to be equally divided among my children -

Tenthly I desire that the executors shall take the orphan negroes according to the praisement of three men and those that are not praised that they shall bring acoun--- the orphans so that the negroes may not be hired out -

Eleventhly I like wise constitute make and ordain my wife Philip Hunnings and Edward Roughton the sole executors to this my last will and testament and I do hearby utterly diallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament wills legacies bequests and executors by me in any wise named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have heareunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of December in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety

Personally appeared in court John Owens & made oath on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God that he saw and heard Zachariah Hunnings above named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the above instrument of writing to be his last will and testament, and at that time he was of sound, disposing, mind & memory and at the same time he saw Zachariah Owens a subscribing witness sign his name thereunto & further saith not
