In the name of God Amen April ye 23d 1754, I William Holladay of the province of North Carrolina and County of Tyrrell being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will & testament. First of all I recommend my soul into ye hands hands of almighty God that gave it me and touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

First - I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Holladay a young Negro girl called Dinnah to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. I also give to my son Thos. Holladay eight head of cattle. I also give to my son Joseph Holladay a negro boy called Charles to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. I also give my right of a Negro fellow called Jemey now living with Hannah Warren to be equally devided among my children I also give to my son Sammuell Holladay the manner plantation to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my son Sammuel Holaday six head of cattle & the rest of the cattle to be equally devided among the rest of my children. I also give and bequeath to my daughters all the money due to me by a bond from John Allen of the County of James City in Virginia to be equally devided amoung them. I also give to my beloved wife Elizabeth Holladay a negro fellow called Lip & a wench called Moll during her life or widowhood & then to my son Samuell Holladay. I do hereby confirm this & no other to be my Last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. I constitute and appoint for joint executors Thos. Holaday & Samuel Holaday.

These may certify that William Jones one of the subscribing evidences to the within will appeared in open court and made oath on the Holy Evangilist of almighty God that he was present and saw William Holaday deceased sign seal publish pronounce and declare the within to be and contain his last Will and Testament and that he was then and at that time of sound and disposing memory and that he also saw John Bennet the other subscribing evidence sign his name thereto at the same time then also appeared Thomas Holaday and Samuel Holaday and qualified as Executors by taking the oath by Law appointed for the qualification of Executor ordered that the Honorable James Murray Esqr. Secretary of this province have notice thereof that Letters Testamentory issue thereon as the law directs.
