In the name of God amen: I John Hooker of Tyrrell County and being sick and weak of body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament, principally I recommend my soul unto God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as to such worldly goods as it hath been please God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose thereof in manner and form following.

First - I give to my beloved wife Ann the Plantation whereon I now live and a third part of the moveable Estate during her natural life or widowhood and after her decease the Plantation to my son Nathan and his heirs forever and the moveable part to be equally divided between my sons William Hooker and Nathan Hooker one other third part to be equally divided between my two sons William Hooker and Nathan Hooker.

I also give and bequeath to my son Stephen Hooker one hundred and ten acres of land joining Abram Brown and one bed in his own possesion and

I give and bequeath to my son William Hooker and his heirs forever one fifty acres of land lying on the West side of Miltail Creek called the Creek Plantation.

I also give and bequeath to my son Nathan Hooker one hundred and fifty acres of land lying to the Eastward of Great Samdy Ridge.

I also give and bequeath unto my son Nathan Hooker one hundred and eleven acres of swamp lying on Sandy Ridge Lake and

I also give unto my son Stephen Hooker five pounds.

I also give to my daughter Sarah five pounds and

I give to my son John Hooker five pounds and

I also give to my daughter Ann five pounds to be raised out of the other third of my Estate.

Lastly - I nominate and appoint my Ann Hooker and my son Nathan Hooker Executor of this my last Will and Testament utterly renouncing and revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the nineteenth day of April Anno Domini 1790.

Personally appeared John Smith in court and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that he saw and heard John Hooker deceased within named, sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the within instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and at that time he was of sound, disposing mind & memory, and at the same time he saw Joseph Basnight and Peggy Smith, subscribing witnesses, sign their name thereto and further saith not.
