Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1798

Ordered that William White have leave of administration on the estate of James Garrett deceased and give bond and security in the sum of 800 pounds Col. Edmund Blount & John Stubbs securities and qualifyed accordingly.

William White administrator of James Garrett deceased returns in open court on oath an inventory of said estate ordered filed.

Ordered that William White administrator of James Garrett deceased have leave to sell the perishable part of the estate of said deceased and make return to next court.

Ordered that Levi Blount & William Fagan Esqrs. & Levi Stubbs or any two of them be appointed to divide the estate of James Garrett deceased amongst the representatives and make return to next court.

January Session 1799

An account of sales of the estate of James Garrett deceased was returned in open court by the administrator amounting to 129 pounds, 2 shillings & 8 pence ordered filed.

April Session 1799

Ordered that Asa Phelps be appointed in the room of Robert Cushing Esqr. to divide the lands of James Garrett deceased.

July Session 1799

The division of the lands of James Garrett deceased amongst the representatives of said deceased was returned in open court by William Fagan Esqr. ordered registered.

October Session 1799

Ordered that Levi Blount William Fagan Esquires and John Garrett or any two of them be appointed to divide the estate of James Garrett deceased and make return to next court.

Petition for division of the land of James Garrett deceased in January Term 1799. Heirs, all sons and daughters, are Thomas Garrett, William White & Asia his wife, Wm. Dwight & Margaret his wife, Africa Martin, widow and relict of Charles Martin deceased, Bradley Garrett & Wm. Leggett in right of his mother Martha Leggett deceased. James Garrett, their father, died on 15 Apr 1798 without leaving a will and at the time of his death was seized and possessed of a tract of land between the lands of Richard Hoff, Henry Harramond, Harmon Webb, Junr. & Bradley Garrett, one of the petitioners.
