In the name of God Amen the last will and testament of Benjamin Gainer of Tyrrell County in the province of North Carolina planter whereas I Benjamin Gainer being of perfect mind and memory at this present time thanks be to God for the same and well knowing the uncertainty of this life doth apoint this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows first I bequeath my sole into the hand of almighty God our heavenly father hopeing through the merits of my blessed savior Jesus Christ to atain mercy and forgiveness for all my sins and for my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors in a Christan maner and as for the smal potion of goods as it hath pleased God to lend me in this life I give as follows first I admit my plantation and the land there unto be longing whereon I now live to the discrition of my execttors to be sold to sattisfie my creddettours and what money remaining after discharging all my debts to the discration of my excettors to bye land for my three sons John Gainer Samuel Gainer and Benjamin Gainer and a track of land known by the name of the Red Iland I leave in the same maner and form and I give and bequeath to my beloved dafther Ann Gainer a negro girl named Ester and I lend to my well beloved wife Sarah Gainer my negro girl Silvey ? dureing her neateral life and after wards she and her increas to be eaqually devided betwixt all my children and as to my stock of cretors that it hath pleased God to give me I lend in the same maner and all my household goods I leave to the discrition of my excettours for the use of my children and if my children all die without isue then to my beloved wife and I do apint my beloved wife Sarah Gainer to be my hole and sole Ececttrix and Joseph Gainer and John Kennedy my execettors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hear unto set my hand and seal this tenth day of October one thousand seven hundred and seventy
