In the name of God Amen March the 25th 1854. I John Gomm of Tyrril County North Carolina beeing in health perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for itt therfore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that itt is appointed fo all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave itt and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried decent Christian burial all the discreation of my Executors nothing doubting but att the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith itt hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the smae in the following manner and form.

Imprimus - I will that all debts from me to any person or persons be truly and honestly paid by my Executors hearafter named as near as posible in the same as shall appear be be due.

Item - I give and bequeath to my Godson Godfery Gray son of Henry Gray his hairs and assigns a certain tract of land containing one hundred and fivty acres called by the name of Stubbs Hall in Tyrril County as will appear by a deed from Mr Stevens Lee Come

Item - I give and bequeath to my loving wife Mary Gomm all and singular my personal Estate and all debts due unto me as will appear by my books Hsome(?) I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament

In Wittness whereof I have hearunto sett my hand and seal the day and year above written the interlining was done before the signing.

Present his Majestys Justices

These my certify that Joseph Norman one of the subscribing Evidences to the within will came into open Court & made Oath on the Holy Evanglist that he saw John Gomm sign seal publish pronounce & declare the within writing to contain his last will & testament and at the same time he saw John Pagett & Samuel Norman sign their names as Evidences to the same. Then appered Mary Gumm Executrix and quallified herself as executrix by taking the Oath as the Law in such cases Directs. Oredered that the Honorable James Murray Esqr. Secretary of this Province have notice thereof that Letters Testamentory issue accordingly.
