Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


January Session 1822

Administration on the estate of Betsey Etheridge was committed to Silas Etheridge who entered into bond with approved security & quallified agreeable to law - ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proced to sell the perishable estate of said deceased and account for the same as the law directs.

April Session 1822

An inventory of the estate of Elizabeth Etheridge deceased was returned on oath in open court & filed stated by Silas Etheridge the administrator nothing to be found.

January Session 1823

Ordered that Lemuel Basnight Joseph Tarkenton John Thoroughgood Thomas Hopkins & Richard Spruill divide the negroes belonging to the estate of Barnaby Etheridge deceased between the legal representatives of said deceased & make report to the next term. {There is no trace of a Barnaby Etheridge in Tyrrell County records. It is possibly supposed to have been Betsy.}

Bond dated 2 Jan 1822 in the amount of three hundred pounds appointing Silas Etheridge administrator of the estate of Betsy Etheridge deceased, Richd. Howett & Richd. Roughton securities.
