In the name of God Amen I Ephraim Etheridge of Tyrrell County & state of North Carolina finding myself indisposed although thanks be to God, in perfet senses - do institute this my last will and testament - - First I humbly bequeath my soul to God my maker, trusting that he will take me to himself into the ? of bliss - as for my burial I desire it may be decent at the directions of my executors hereafter mentioned whom I doubt not will manage it with prudence - - As to my worldly estate I will and positively order that all my just debts be paid - -

Item I give & bequeath unto my beloved son James Etheridge one red heafer yearling -

Item I give & bequeath to my beloved son Wm. Etheridge my plantation whereon I now live together with all the land thereunto belonging -

Item I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Etheridge one cow & calf (the cow called Flower) -

Item I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Sarah Etheridge one cow known by the name of China -

Item I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary Etheridge one heafer called Lady -

Item I give to my beloved son Enoch Etheridge one mare ? (one year old) -

Item My will & desire is that my young mare known by the name of Tib shall be sold & the money appropriated to the use and support of my wife & young children -

Item My will & desire is that the residue of my estate not heretofore mentioned be given to my beloved wife Miriam Etheridge during her life or widdowhood after her desease to go to my three youngest children, viz. Lyda, Nancy & John Etheridge -

Item It is my will & desire that ? land ? I have bequeathed to my son Wm. Etheridge my plantation that it is my will & desire that my wife keeps possession of it during her life time then to devolve to my son Willm. Etheridge as above & if he should die without issue to go to my son John Etheridge -

Last of all It is my will & desire that my trusty friend Thomas Stubbs Esqr and my beloved wife Miria Etheridge, be executors to this my last will & testament, signed sealed & delivered in presence of me - this twenty second day of Decr. AD 1792 as witness my hand and seal -

Personally appeared in court Captn Robert Cushing & made oath on the Holy Evangelists of almighty God that he saw and heard Ephraim Etheridge above named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the above instrument of writing to be his last will & testament & at that time he was of sound, disposing mind & memory. And at the same time he saw Isaac Airs a subscribing witness sign his name thereunto & further saith not
