In the name of God Amen. I Easter Davis of Gum Neck Township in the County of Tyrrell and state of North Carolina being in feble health but of sound mind and memory and recolling to mind that it is appointed that all must die do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament.

Item It is my desire that my Executor shall provide for my body decent burial and to pay all necessary charges incured thereby out of any funds coming into his hands from the sale of my personal property.

Item it is request that all my real and personal estate of whatsoever nature and kind shall be a legacy to J. C. Meekins and his wife Mahala and to their Heirs forever.

Item It is my desire that J. C. Meekins (cut off) be and he is hereby appointed guardian to my son Manard Davis to do by and with him as he may see proper and in the event of the death of said J. C. Meekins before my said son Maynard Davis arives to the full age of twenty one years then and in that event I desire that my said son Manard Davis guardianship shall descend to Mahala Meekins wife of the said J. C. Meekins Sr.

Item I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty fried J. C. Meekins Sr. my executor to this my last will and testament and also Guardian to my said son Manard Davis in manner and form herein before described-. In witness whereof I have affixed my signature by making my mark in presence of

A paper writing bearing date of 13 March 1882 purporting to be the last will in open Court by J. C. Meekins executor and testamentary Guardian therein named and the due execution of the same is proven by the oath and examination of Lidia White and Ab Alexander the subscribing witnesses thereto in manner and form following to wit The said Lidia White and Ab Alexander being duly sworn deposes and says, and each for themselves doth day that the said paper writing now shown them bearing date of the 13th of March 1882 purporting to be the last will and testament of Easther Davis exhibited for Probate by the said J. C. Meekins executor as aforesaid was on the said 13th day of March 1882 in their presence signed sealed published and declare by the said Easther Davis to be her last will and testament and that at the request of and in the presence of the said Easther Davis; and in the presence of each other the said Lidia White and Ab Alexander subscribed their names as subscribing witness thereto. And further more they believe at the same time the said Easther Davis signed the said will she was of sound mind and memory and of full age to make and fully execute a will.
