July Session 1783

Appeared Mrs. Rachel Devenport in open court & prayed administration on the estate of Elkanah Devenport deceased & granted & gives bond in the sum of 1,500 pounds specie James Devenport Senr. & John Wynne securitys also the said Rachel Devenport exhibited an inventory in open court of the said deceased estate & ordered to be filed.

January Session 1784

Appeared Rachel Devenport administratrix & widow of Elk. Devenport & exhibited an account against the estate of Elkanah Devenport deceased & ordered to be filed.

January Session 1785

Appeared in open court John Wynne & prays a division of the estate of Elkanah Devenport deceased between Rachel Devenport widow of said deceased and her three children orphans of said deceased and that Joseph Phelps Junr. Benjamin Spruill and James Woods divide the same and make return to next court.

April Session 1785

Appeared in open court Benjamin Spruill Esqr. and exhibited a division of the estate of Elkanah Davenport deceased ordered to be filed.

Appeared in open court Rachel Davenport widow of Elkanah Davenport deceased and prayed to be appointed guardian to her three children, Mary, James, and Recina {?} Devenport granted and give bond in 1,000 pounds, Joseph Phelps Junr. and Richard Davis securitys.

Ordered that Rachel Devenport widow of Elkanah Devenport deceased hold the estate divided to the said deceased three children to wit Mary, James, and Recina Devenport for the support of said children and after coming of age to deliver the same to them.

July Session 1786

Levi Rowe administrator in lieu of his wife who administered on the estate of Elkanah Devenport deceased her former husband, exhibited in court an account against the estate of said Elkanah Devenport deceased & find a balance due the said administrator of eight pounds six shillings & one penny.

January Session 1787

Ordered that Levi Rowe administrator of Elkanah Devenport have leave to sell the perishable part of the estate of said deceased which was divided to Risina Devenport & Mary Devenport daughters of the said deceased and make return to next court.

Ordered that Levi Rowe administrator of Elkanah Devenport deceased be allowed the sum of fifteen pounds & fifteen shillings for maintaining and keeping the said deceaseds three children from April 1785 to this term.

April Session 1788

Levi Rowe administrator of Elkanah Davenport deceased exhibited in court his account against said deceased estate and there apears to be a balance of 13 pounds, 4 shillings & 1 pence due administrator filed settled per auditors appointed this term.

January Session 1789

Ordered that John Wynne be appointed guardian to the orphans of Elkanah Devenport deceased in the room of Levi Rowe late guardian to the said orphans whose securities have resigned their security ship and give bond in 600 pounds Jeremiah Frasier and Henry Norman securities.

Ordered that Levi Rowe late guardian to the orphans of Elkanah Davenport deceased give up and pay to John Wynne guardian appointed to said orphans of said deceased all the estate belonging to said orphans of said deceased and that Henry Norman, Benjamin Spruill and Samuel Spruill be appointed to audite the accounts of Levi Rowe late guardian and administrator of Elkanah Davenport deceased and make return to next court.

April Session 1789

Ordered that Benjamin Spruill, Samuel Spruill & Henry Norman be appointed auditors to audite the accounts of Levi Rowe late guardian to the orphans of Elkanah Davenport deceased between the said guardian and John Wynne present guardian to the orphans of Elkanah Davenport deceased aforesaid and make return to next court.

July Session 1789

Ordered that Henry Norman, Samuel Spruill & Robert Wynne be appointed auditors to audite the accounts of Levi Rowe administrator of the estate of Elkanah Davenport deceased & make return to next court.

October Session 1789

Ordered that Levi Rowe be appointed guardian to the orphans of Elkanah Davenport deceased to wit Mary Davenport, James Davenport & Azenah Davenport being the second appointment and give bond in 500 pounds John Wynne & Nathan Bateman securities.

Ordered that Levi Rowe guardian of the orphans of Elkanah Davenport deceased have the use of the said orphans estates until they are of age or marry or choose their guardians for the keeping and maintenance and schooling of the said orphans, and also receive the sum of 9 pounds which is due the said orphans of Capt. John Wynne former guardian & that he of his own accord relinquish said orphans to this court.

October Session 1791

On motion the petition of Frederick & Moses Davenport, ordered that Joseph Phelps, Simion Spruill Esqr. Henry Norman, Charles Spruill, & John Ansley make partition agreeable to the prayer of the petitioners of the lands of James Davenport Junr. deceased between the said Frederick & Moses Davenport and James Davenport son of Elkanah whom Levi Rowe is guardian to, & Isaiah & Uriah Davenport sons of James Davenport Senr. deceased to whom the aforesaid Frederick Davenport is guardian to and make return to the next court.

Division of the estate of Elkanah Davenport deceased on 30 Mar 1785 to Rachel Davenport (widow), James Davenport, Mary Davenport & Ozinah Davenport. Negro woman named Jude to Rachel Davenport. Negro girl child named Lettie to Mary Davenport. Negro woman named Pash to James Davenport. Negro girl child named Jean to Ozinah Davenport.

Court award of 15 pounds & 15 shillings to Levi Rowe, administrator of Elkanah Davenport deceased for keeping the said deceased's three children from April 1785 to January Term 1787.

Guardian bond dated 9 Jan 1789 in the amount of six hundred pounds in which John Wynne is appointed guardian of James, Mary & Resina Davenport, minor orphans, Jeremiah Frasier & Henry Norman securities.

Guardian bond dated 8 Oct 1789 in the amount of five hundred pounds in which Levi Rowe is appointed guardian of James, Mary & Ozinah Davenport, minor orphans, John Wynne & Nathan Bateman securities.

Bond dated 27 Jul 1789 in the amount of one hundred pounds executed by Frederick Davenport & William Chesson guaranteeing their suit against Levi Rowe guardian.
