April Session 1827

Ordered that Enoc Hassell be appointed administrator on the estate of John G. B. Davenport deceased who entered into bond and gave security Simeon Brickhouse & Ephraim Mann in the sum of six hundred dollars.

Ordered that Elizabeth Davenport widow of J. G. B. Davenport have her years allowance laid off agreeable to law and that John Brickhouse Junr. James Fobes & Matthew Brickhouse be appointed commissioners lay off the same.

Enoch Hassell administrator of Jno. G. B. Davenport returned an inventory and account of sales of the estate of said deceased.

January Session 1828

Enoch Hassell returned the years allowance of the widow of Jno. G. B. Davenport ordered to be filed.

January Session 1829

Ordered that Jos. Halsey, Saml. Rogers & Richard Howett be appointed auditors to settle the estate of Jno. G. B. Davenport with the administrator Enoch Hassell.

Enoch Hassell returned an account of hire of the negroes & rent of land of the estate of John G. B. Davenport for the year 1828 & 1829.

April Session 1829

Ordered that the widow of John G. B. Davenport be allowed sixty dollars for board and clothing of Lidy & Elizabeth Davenport orphans of said deceased.

Enoch Hassell administrator of Zebulon Spruill returned in open court an account of sales and inventory of the estate of said Spruill - also an account of sales of part of the estate of Jno. G. B. Davenport.

Ordered that Richard Howett Jos. Halsey & Saml. Rogers be appointed to audite and settle the estate of Jno. G. B. Davenport with Enoch Hassell the administrator.

Ordered that Eph. Mann be appointed guardian to Louisa & Elizabeth Davenport orphans of Jno. G. B. Davenport deceased & that he enter into bond.

July Session 1829

Jos. Halsy one of the auditors returned the audited account of the estate of Jno. G. B. Davenport with Enoch Hassell the administrator & filed.

January Session 1833

Ephm. Mann administrator of Jno. G. B. Davenport returned the account of sale for the negroes of said estate for a division & filed.

Ordered that Richard Meekins be appointed guardian to Louisa & Elizabeth Davenport orphans of J. G. Blount Davenport who entered into bond in the sum of two thousand dollars James Forbes & George H. Alexander securities.

Bond dated 24 Feb 1827 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing Enoch Hassell special administrator of the goods and chattels of John G. B. Davenport deceased, Matthew Brickhouse & Richard Lucas securities.

Grant of special administration on the estate of John G. B. Davenport deceased on 24 Feb 1827 authorizing him to sell all the horses, hogs, cattle, sheep, bees, farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture belonging to the said estate. Signed by Justices of the Peace, B. W. Hallsey, Matthew Brickhouse & Henderson S. Sutton.

Bond dated 23 Apr 1827 in the amount of six hundred dollars appointing Enoch Hassell administrator of the estate of John G. B. Davenport deceased, Simeon Brickhouse & Ephraim Mann securities.

Laying off of the year's allowance of Elizabeth Davenport, widow of John G. B. Davenport deceased, and her two children out of the estate of said deceased on 24 Apr 1827.

Account of sale by execution on 28 Feb 1828 of negro woman Lyda, the property of John G. B. Davenport deceased in the hands of his administrator, Enoch Hassell by the sheriff, Henry Alexander. Execution obtained by Solomon Ashbee Jr., administrator of Solomon Ashbee Senr. to the use of William White. Bought by Winny Hoskins for $156.35. The execution against the estate was for a debt of $329.25 incurred on 1 Aug 1825 by both Brittin Hoskins & John G. B. Davenport with Charles McClees witness.

Bond dated 28 Apr 1829 in the amount of one thousand pounds appointing Ephraim Mann guardian of Louisa & Elizabeth Davenport, minor orphans, Matthew Brickhouse & Alexander Dillin securities.

Petition October Term 1832 by Richard A. Meekins and wife Elizabeth and Ephraim Mann guardian to Louisa D. Davenport & Elizabeth Ann Davenport who are jointly entitled to three negroes, viz. Charity, Job & Charles. Petitioners Richd. and wife are desirous that division be made and such division can not be had without sale thereof. They pray that Ephraim Mann be ordered to make such sale.

Bond dated 29 Jan 1833 in the amount of two thousand dollars appointing Richard A. Meekins guardian of Louisa & Elizabeth Davenport orphans of John G. B. Davenport deceased, George H. Alexander & James Forbes securities.

Bond dated 26 Apr 1836 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing Richard A. Meekins guardian of Louisa D. & Ann Elizabeth Davenport orphans of John G. B. Davenport deceased, Jos. Alexander, Gilbert Brickhouse & Samuel Leigh securities.

Petition October Term 1837 by Ann Elizabeth Davenport by her guardian Richard Meekins who states that her father John G. B. Davenport died seized and possessed of a tract of land adjoining the lands of john Brickhouse and others of 178 acres more or less. The said John G. B. Davenport left two children, your petitioner and her sister, Louisa Davenport, who intermarried with Abram Alexander, as his heirs at law. Petitioners pray for an order to divide the land.

Petition October Term 1837 by Richard A. Meekins and his wife Elizabeth Meekins stating that John G. B. Davenport the late husband of Elizabeth Meekins one of your petitioners died seized and possessed of 178 acres, one-third of which your petitioner Elizabeth widow of said Davenport is entitled to as dower. They further state that John G. B. Davenport left as heirs at law Louisa Davenport now the wife of Abram Alexander and Ann Elizabeth Davenport, an infant under the age of twenty one years, to whom your petitioner Richard Meekins is guardian and he prays that a guardian ad litem be appointed for the said Ann Elizabeth Davenport. Petitioners pray an order to lay off the dower of the said Elizabeth in the lands of the said John G. B. Davenport.

Bond dated 29 Jan 1839 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing Thos. H. Alexander guardian of Ann E. Davenport orphan of J. G. B. Davenport deceased, Samuel Leigh & Jos. Alexander securities.

Warrant dated 2 May 1842 for Richard A. Meekins, Maris Weskett & Thomas H. Alexander to appear before Samuel Leigh or some other Justice of the Peace at Silby Patrick's store on 14 May 1842 to answer the complaint of Frederick Patrick in a plea of debt due by note in the sum of $41.17 with compound interest from 2 Mar 1839.

Petition October Term 1850 by Ann E. Davenport against Thomas H. Alexander, who was formerly guardian to petitioner and continued to be until she reached full age. He is fully aware that she is now of full age but has refused to come to a final settlement of the guardianship. Petitioner prays that a final accounting be made.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in October 1850 for Richard A. Meekins to appear in court on the fourth Monday in January next and testify on behalf of the defendant in a suit in which Ann E. Davenport is plaintiff and T. H. Alexander is defendant.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in January 1851 and issued 28 Jan 1851 for Richard A. Meekins to appear in court on the fourth Monday in April next and testify on behalf of the defendant in a suit in which Ann E. Davenport is plaintiff and Thos. H. Alexander is defendant.

Guardian account of Thomas H. Alexander for Ann Elizabeth Davenport from 12 Feb 1829 to 21 Jan 1852 with interest calculated to 26 Jan 1852. A balance is due Ann E. Davenport of $337.83.
