Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions

April Session 1786

Parthenia Dunton appeared in court & prayed an administration on the estate of Martin Dunton deceased her late husband granted & give bond in 500 pounds Josiah Phelps Senr. & Josiah Phelps Junr. securities & qualifyed.

The said Parthenia Dunton administratrix of M. Dunton deceased returns on oath in court an inventory of the deceased estate ordered to be filed.

Also prayed an order for the sale of the perishable part of the said Martin Dunston's estate granted and that she make due return to next court.

July Session 1786

John Snell Deputy Sheriff exhibits in court an account of sales of the estate of Martin Duntin deceased in the amount of 23 pounds, 4 shillings & 8 pence ordered to be filed.

January Session 1790

Benjamin Spruill, Joseph Wyatt, Charles Spruill, William Brickhouse & Hezekiah Spruill (surveyor) being appointed to settle the bounds of lands between Isaac Davenport and Josiah Phelps in behalf of his daughter Bethany Dunton exhibit into court their proceedings and returns filed. {Tyrrell County Marriage Bonds show Martin Dunton marrying Pathena Phelps (dau. of Josiah) on 5 May 1779}
