In the name of God Amen: I William Dunbar of the county of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being in good health and of sound mind and memory and understanding praised be God for the same do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

Item - I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Joanna Dunbar all of my property real and personal of whatever kind soever and whensoever the same shall be all(word cut off) her natural life.

Item - I give divise and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary E. Cahoon all of my house hold and kitchen furniture. And all of bees and stock consisting of Hogs and cattle and hand mill.

Item 3 - I devise and bequeath to my beloved Grand children Robert M. Dunbar, Thos. N. Dunbar, James C. Dunbar and Sarah C. Dunbar one hundred acres of land on the Dunbar Canal.

Item 4 - I give devise and bequeath to my beloved son Dock W. Dunbar f(word cut off) acres of land adjoining his own and Henry Dunbar land.

Item 5th - I give devise and bequeath to my beloved son and daughter David Dunbar and Sarah Carolina Dunbar all of my other lands undisposed of wheresoever it maybe.

Item 6 - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Henry L. Dunbar five dollars to be paid him by my executor.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint B. L. S. Dunbar my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same. And every part & clause thereof. Hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other will and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said William Dunbar do hereunto set my hand and seal this 23d day of July AD 1881.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of William Dunbar late of Tyrrell County with B. L. S. Dunbar named as executor therein, and with the names of C. J. Squyans, Danl Squyans and J M Skittletharp as subscribing witnesses thereto is exhibited in open court for Probate, and duly proved by the oath and examination of Danl. B. Squyans and C. J. Squyans who on oath say and each says that on the day and date mentioned therein they saw the said Wm Dunbar sign publish and declare said paper writing as his last will and testament and that in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other they subscribed their names as witnesses to the same and that the said William Dunbar was at that of sound mind and memory and capable of making a will. Therefor it is adjudged and decreed by the court that said paper writing is the last will and testament of the said William Dunbar and that he was of sound mind and memory and capable of making a will at the time the same was made. And upon the application of said B. L. S. Dunbar. It is decreed that letters testamentary issue to him Sept 3d 1883

A paper writing bearing date of July 23d 1881 purporting to be the last will and testament of William Dunbar deceased with B. L. S. Dunbar named therein as executor to the same. And with the names of C. J. Squyans, J M Skittletharp and Danl B Squyans as subscribing witnesses to the same is exhibited in court for Probate:- and the due execution of the same by the said William Dunbar is proven by the oath and examination of the said C. J. Squyans & Danl Squyans in manner and form follows to wit. C. J. Squyans and Danl B Squyans being duly sworn depo(cut off) and say and each for himself deposeth and saith that on the day and date named in said paper writing here before the court they saw the said William Dunbar sign said paper writing by making his mark as appears thereon. And that at the same time in the presence of them & of said J. M. Skittletharp the said William Dunbar did publish and sign and declare said paper writing to be his last will and testament. The same having been read over to him by the writen; And also that they the said C. J. Squyans, Daniel Squyans and J M Skittletharp in the presence of each other and at the request of and in the presence of the said William Dunbar did sign their names as subscribing witnesses to said paper writing; And also that they believe the said William Dunbar at the time of making said will and testament was of all respects of making a will.
