In the name of God Amen the ninth day of May 1754 I Thomas Duggan of the province of North Carolina & County of Tyrrell being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given to God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will & Testament that is to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that give it me and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I do give demise and dispose of in ye following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Mary Duggan a grey horse called Toby and grey mair branded with three dots young horse branded with QE on the buttock and a dimond on the shoulder on ye near side.

I also give to Son Thos. Duggan a black called Jewell and her colt.

I also give and bequeath to my son Jesse Duggan a dun colloured mair branded with IE on the buttock& dimond on the shoulder one the near side and her colt.

I also give to my apprentice John Seals a cow & calf and he the sd. John Seals and my two sons aforenamed to live with my wife to ye age of twenty one years.

I also give and bequeath to my son Thomas Duggan a certen peice of land beginning on the line of ye manner plantation and so up the creek to a certen deep bottom where the path turns into a deep neck & from thence a straight course to a certen pond on John Gressens path

I also give to my son Jesse Duggan all the land to me belonging on ye uper side of ye sd. Deep bottom

I also give to sons Thos. Duggan & Jesse Duggan a certen tract or parcell of land lying on ye south side of ye mill swamp binding on the pig pen branch to equally decided between them.

I also give to my son Thos Duggan a hoan & the half of my tools of all sorts & the other half to my son Jesse Duggan & all the rest of my houshold goods & Chattels to be equally devided among my wife and my children

I likwise constitute and appoint for joint executors Capt John Hardison & Mary Duggan and I do hereby uterly disallow revoke & disanul all and every other forever Testament wills Legacies bequests & Executors by me in any ways before named ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will & Testament. In witness wereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day & year above written.

Present his Majesty's Justices

These may certify that Higason King on of the evidences to the within will appeared in open Court and made oath on the Holy Evangelist he saw Thomas Duggan sign seal publish pronounce and declare the within writing to contain his last will & Testament and at the same time he saw John Bennet and William King sign their names as evidences to the said wills and that the said Thomas Duggan was at that time in perfect sound mind & disposing memory then also appeared John Hardison Executor & quallified himself by taking the oath of an Executor as this Law Directs. Ordered that the honorable James Murray Esq. Secretary of this Province have notice therof that Letters Testamentory issue accordingly.

On motion of Mr. William Cumming in behalf of Thos. Dugan son of Thomas Dugan for a sitation to issue to cause the exrs. of ye said Thomas to make up their accounts of ye sd. deceased estate that he may have his distributed share of sd. estate.
