In the name of God amen: This 6th day of June in the year of our Lord 1783 I Mathw Corpew of North Carolina and Tyrrell County being very weak and sick in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave all, and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in manner and form following that is to say.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Easther Corpew her thirds in the plantation and land whereon I now dwell, Likewise all my household goods and furniture during her life and after her decease to be equally divided between my two daughters Mary and Elizabeth.

Item - I give and bequeath my will and pleasure is that the Plantation and land whereon I now dwell together with all my wife thirds after her decease be equally divided between my two daughters Mary Garrett and Elizabeth Corpew to them and their heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies. I likewise constitute appoint and ordain my wife Easther Executrix and William Harrison Executor to this my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

Tyrrell County April Term 1787

Appeared personally John Corprew and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God that he saw and heard Matthew Corprew above named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the above instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and at that time he was of sound mind and memory and at the same time he saw Mary Corprew a suscribing witness sign her name thereto, and further saith not.
