In the name of God amen -- This twelvth day of October in ye year of our Lord 1728 -- I Joseph Cannings of Albemarl County in North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefore calling unto mind ye mortality of my body and knowing yt it is appointed for men once to dye, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament--yt is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into ye hands of God yt gave it and my body I recommend it to ye Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at ye discretion of my Executrix nothing doubting but at ye General Resurrection I shall receive ye same again by ye Mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate were with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give, devise and dispose of ye same in ye following manner and form.

Imprimis - I constitute make and ordain my wife Rebekea Cannings my onely and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament all and singular my lands messuages and tenements goods and chattels by her freely to be possessed and enjoyed

Item - I give and bequeath to Joshua Turner one Gold ring.

Item - I give and bequeath to Mary Turner one Gold ring.

Item - and I do hereby utterly disalow and revoke and disanul all and every other former Testaments Wills and Legacies Requests and Executors by me in any ways before this time named Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In wittness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal ye day and year above written.
