In the name of God amen. I Richard Canady of the Province of North Carolina being sick in body but of sound & disposing mind and memory praised be the Almighty, go make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner following Viz: First I recommend my Soul to God my maker, and as to such Worldly Goods as it hath pleased god to bestow upon me I give and bequeath the same in manner following Viz:

First I give and bequeath the land and plantation where on I now live, in Tyrrell County to my beloved wife Katharine for and during her natural life and after the death of my said wife I give & bequeath the said plantation to my son John Canady his heirs & assigns forever with the sixty acres of land laying on ye east side of Kendricks Creek.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Katharine and her assigns forever one third of all of my stock of Cattle hogs & sheep.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son John Canady & my daughter Kezia Canady their heirs and assigns forever two thirds of all my stock of cattle hogs & sheep to be eaqually divided between them both in kind and quality.

Item - I give & bequeath to my son John my two year old mear.

Item - I give & bequeath to my daughter Kezia, the first colt that my old mear dus fold.

Item - I give & bequeath to my son John & Daughter Kezia my old mear to be kept as a breeder & the Colts as she dus fold be eaqually devided between my son John and my daughter Kezia.

Item - I give & bequeath to my daughter Kezia one feather bed & bolster & two blankets and half a doz.of Plates

Item - I give & bequeath to my son John two iron potts

Item - I give & bequeath to my daughter Kezia two iron potts

Item - I give my old hors nob for ye youse of ye plantation

Item - I do hereby constitute and appoint my son John Canady and Steven Lee Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former & other wills by me made. In testimony wereof I have signed sealed and pulblished this as my last will and testament this twenty day of April in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty four.

The last will and testament of Richard Canaday desd. Was entered into open court and proved on oath of Richerd Draper & Even Jones Subscribing evidences thereto and on mohan(?) of Jno. Canaday who qualified as Executor to said will praying an order for letter Testramintary granted and ordred that the Honorable Nathanel Rice Esq. Secreatary herence Notice thereof that letters may ishue accordingly Date of the clerks office this 16th of April 1750
