April Session 1842

Ordered that Frederick Patrick administer on the estate of Thomas W. Clayton deceased and that he enter into bond in the sum of $400 with Thomas B. Myers & Jordan L. Jones securities.

October Session 1842

F. Patrick returned an inventory of notes belonging to the estate of T. W. Clayton deceased.

F. Patrick returned the account sales of T. W. Clayton's property.

Bond dated 25 Apr 1842 in the amount of four hundred dollars appointing Fredk. Patrick administrator of the estate of Thomas W. Clayton deceased, Jordan Jones & Thomas B. Myers security.

Petition April Term 1842 by Fredk. Patrick who has taken out letters of administration as the highest creditor upon the estate of Thomas W. Clayton deceased at this term of court. The said Thomas W. Clayton departed this life intestate in 1842 possessed of no personal property and insufficient assets to settle his debts. At his death he was indebted to petitioner by note and accounts in the sum of $200. Petitioner has no way of obtaining his debt from his intestate but by a sale of his real estate. Petitioner shows that Thomas W. Clayton died seized and possessed of two tracts of land, one of about 25 acres situated in Gum Neck on the north side of the main Gum Neck Road adjoining Benj. Sikes, W. Patrick, F. Liverman & Thomas Liverman, the other of about 50 acres in Washington County, North Carolina known as the Wiley Tract purchased from F. F. Fagan by deed bearing date 6 Mar 1838. Thomas W. Clayton died as aforesaid leaving Louisa, Susan & (blank) Clayton, infants under the age of 21 years his only heirs at law without guardian. Petitioner prays a decree to sell said land and that process may issue to said heirs.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in April 1842 for Louisa, Susan & (blank) Clayton to appear at court on the fourth Monday in July next to answer the petition of F. Patrick administrator of T. W. Clayton.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Thomas Clayton to Mariney Liverman on 1 Jan 1822, D. Clayton security.

Court records and loose estate papers in 1817 show that Mariney Liverman was the daughter of Hezekiah Liverman.
