I Ashberry Cohoon of the county of Tyrrell and State of North Carolina being of Sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my Earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say. 1st that my Executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent buriall suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all Funeral expenses.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin A Cohoon-to be paid by my executor out of any moneys belonging to my estate to be his and at his and at his disposal absolutly forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved children Polly A Cohoon Soloman Cohoon Edward Cohoon Paul Cohoon and Alfred Cohoon all of my Personal Property. Consisting of cattle hogs sheep and one horse together with all other goods and chattles whatsoever belonging to my estate.

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved children Viz Polly A Cohoon Soloman Cohoon Edward Cohoon Paul Cohoon and Alfred Cohoon the lands whereon I now live to be desposed in the following manner to remain unsold until the youngest child comes of Twenty one years old, to be rented out at the greatest advantage for the Benefit of the said children.

Item and whereas my son Soloman is a minor of the age of about sixteen and will not be the full age of Twenty-one until March thirtieth Eighteen Hundred and Seventy seven and my son Edward is a minor of the age of thirteen years old and will not be the full age of Twenty one until October first AD 1880, my son Paul is a minor of the age of Eleven years and will not be the full age of Twenty one until November Twenty fifth AD 1882 my son Alfred is a minor of the age of five years and will not be of full age of Twently one until July 15th 18(cut off)

Now therefore my will and desire is that Joseph B Liverman is hereby Constituted and appoint Guardian of these my four children to have and to hold the custody and Guardianship both of their respective persons and estate until the said Soloman Edward Paul and Alfred shall severally arrive at the full age of Twenty one years.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my worth Friend Joseph B. Liverman my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and Testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testament by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said Ashberry Cohoon do hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd May A.D. 1872

Signed sealed Published and declared by the said Ashbe Cohoon to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presents do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

A paper writing purporting to be the last will and Testament of Ashberry Cohoon Deceased is exhibited for Probate in open Court by Soloman Cohoon one of the Legates therein named and it thereupon proven by the oath of and examination of T L Jones And A A Combs the subscribing witnesses thereto who says each for himself That he said Ashberry Cohoon signed said paper writing in his presence and declared the same to be his last will and Testament and at the time the said Ashberry Cohoon was of sound mind and competent of making a last will and testament and said T L Jones and A A Combs doth declare that they did sign said paper writing as attesting witnesses in the presence of and at the request of the said Ashberry Cohoon and further these deponants saith not sworn and subscribed
