July Session 1790

Ordered that Nathan Bateman Junr. have leave of administration on the estate of John Bateman deceased his father and give bond 300 pounds John Bateman & Levi Bateman securities and qualifyed.

Nathan Bateman Junr. administrator of John Bateman deceased returns into court the inventory of the estate of the said deceased on oath ordered filed.

Ordered that Nathan Bateman administrator of John Bateman deceased his father have leave to sell the perishable estate of the said deceased and make return to next court.

October Session 1790

Henry Norman Deputy Sheriff returns into court an account of sales of the estate of John Bateman Senr. deceased to the amount of 69 pounds, 3 shillings & 4 pence ordered filed.

January Session 1799

Ordered that Silas Bateman orphan of John Bateman be bound to William Brickhouse till he arrives to lawful age and the said master is to learn the said apprentis to read wright & cypher as far as the rule of three.

April Session 1791

Ordered that Nathan Bateman administrator of John Bateman deceased pay unto Pathiah Bateman widow of John Bateman deceased the sum of 14 pounds for the support & maintenance of Silas & George Bateman orphans of said deceased for one year from this court.

Ordered that Silas Bateman an orphan boy be bound to Nathan Bateman till he arrives to lawful age and that he be discharged from the order of last court as an apprentice to William Brickhouse it is further ordered that the said Nathan Bateman learn the said apprentice to read wright & sypher as far as the rule of three.

January Session 1802

Ordered that Mr. Zebulon Tarkenton be appointed guardian to George Bateman orphan of John Bateman deceased and hath given bond in some of fifty pound Ebenezer Bateman security.

Administrator's bond dated 6 Jul 1790 in the amount of three hundred pounds appointing Nathan Bateman Junr. administrator of his father John Bateman with John Bateman & Levi Bateman/Blount securities. {Bond says Levi Blount and signature is Levi Bateman.}

Petition for dower in October Term 1803 by Bethiah Bateman widow and relict of John Bateman deceased who died in 1790 seized and possessed of a 50 acre tract of land joining Joseph Arnold. Note on second page says that notice & copy of this petition is to be served on Nathan Bateman son of John, Miles Jesse & Isaac Bateman and Zebul Tarkinton guardian of George all heirs of John Bateman.

Order to the Sheriff dated 26 Oct 1803 to appoint a jury to lay out the dower of Bethiah Bateman in the land of John Bateman deceased and to make known to Nathan Bateman Myles Bateman Jesse Bateman Isaac Bateman George Bateman and Silas Bateman an infant under the age of 21 years by his guardian Zebulon Tarkinton that they must appear and see the said laying out done lawfully.

Order to the Sheriff dated 25 Apr 1804 and issued 3 May 1804 to make 4 pounds, 16 shillings & 6 pence available from the goods, chattels, lands and tenements of Bethiah Bateman widow of John Bateman to satisfy a judgement recovered against her by the heirs of John Bateman.
