In the matter of the last Will and Testament of Wilson Bateman

A paper writing without any subscribing witnesses purporting to be the last will and testament of Wilson Bateman deceased and bearing date of June 21st 1886 is exhibited in Court by J. H. Bateman for probate and the execution thereof is proved by the oath and examination of Geo. W. Bateman, R. V. Smith and W. H. Hardison three credible witnesses as follows:

George W. Bateman being duly sworn says that he is will acquainted with the hand writing of the said Wilson Bateman having frequently seen him write and verily believe that the name of the said Wilson Bateman subscribed to the said will and the said paper writing above described and every part thereof is in the hand writing of the said Wilson Bateman.

R. V. Smith being sworn says that he is well acquainted with the hand writing of Wilson Bateman having frequently seen him write and having had settlements with him in business matters at various times and that he verily believes that the signature to the said paper writing before the court is in the hand writing of the said Wilson Bateman and that the said writing and every part thereof is in the hand writing of the said Wilson Bateman. The said paper writing being the one attached hereto.

W. H. Hardison being sworn says that he believes he is well acquainted with the hand writing of Wilson Bateman having learned it from a careful examination and reading of his book of accounts. And verily believe that the signature to the said paper writing hereto attached and before the court for probate is the signature of said Wilson Bateman and that the said paper writing and every part thereof he believes to be in the hand writing Wilson Bateman, the same corresponding with the hand writing in his books of accounts, Also that on the 20th day July 1886 the same was by him found among the valuable papers and effects of the said Wilson Bateman Decd.

A paper writing without subscribing witnesses purporting to be the last will and testament of Wilson Bateman decd is exhibited in open court by J. H. Bateman, administrator of said Wilson Bateman and is there upon proved by the oath and examination of W. H. Hardison that the said will was found among the valuable papers and effects of the said Wilson Bateman after his death. And it is further proved by the oath of W. H. Hardison, Geo. Bateman and R. V. Smith three credible witnesses that they are acquainted with the handwriting of the said Wilson Bateman and verily believe that the name of the said Wilson Bateman subscribed to said will and the paper writings are every part thereof is in the handwriting of the said Wilson Bateman.

It is therefore considered by the Court that said paper writing is the last will and testament of the said Wilson Bateman and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed.
