January Session 1803

The petition of Amelia Bateman was presented in open court claiming her right of dower in four lots of land in the town of Columbia and one hundred acres of land prayer of the petition granted and that Samuel Carswell be appointed guardian for the purpose to the ??? of said Bateman order to the sheriff.

April Session 1803

Ordered that Samuel Carswell have leave of administration on the estate of Jeremiah Bateman and have entered into bond in the sum of two hundred pounds John Bateman and Levi Bateman securities.

The jurors appointed to lay off the dower of Amila Bateman has made return agreeable to order of court filed.

July Session 1803

Samuel Carswell Senr. returned in court on oath the inventory of the estate of Jeremiah Bateman deceased filed.

October Session 1803

Samuel Carswell administrator of the estate of Jeremiah Bateman deceased returned in court the account of sale dated the 8th October 1803 to the amount of 12 pounds & 6 shillings sworn to and filed.

October Session 1804

The audited acounts of sales of Jeremiah Bateman deceased returned in open court filed.

Bond dated 26 Apr 1803 in the amount of two hundred pounds appointing Samual Carswell administrator of the estate of Jeremiah Bateman deceased, John Bateman & Levi Bateman securities.

Execution dated 27 Apr 1803 and issued 2 May 1803 against Amelia Bateman for three pounds, three shillings & three pence, for costs in her dower in the estate of Jerh. Bateman.

Execution dated 26 Oct 1803 and issued 8 Nov 1803 against the goods & chattels, lands & tenements of Jeremiah Bateman for nine pounds, one shilling & 4 pence which Isaac Tarkenton recovered for debt, damage & costs. Sheriff's return says no goods or chattels to be found, levied on the land joining Samuel Ashbee's land one hundred acres property of said deceased.

There are several more executions against the estate of Jeremiah Bateman and his securities, Samuel Cardwell Senr. & Joseph Phelps blacksmith for debt.
