In the name of God amen: I Nathan Bateman Senr. of Tyrrell County and State of North Carolina calling to mind the mortality of man and being old do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say first of all I recommend my soul to God who gave it: me and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors. First of all my Will and desire is that all my just debts be paid -

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Issac Bateman all my land and Plantation whereon I now live and place whereon the said Issac Bateman now live which said land and Plantation contains seventy five acres of land and further I give my said son Issac Bateman privilege of a road for an outlet of twelve in with which I will hereafter mark out for him and his heirs forever -

Item - I give and bequeath unto my grand son Henry Bateman the land and Plantation whereon my son John Bateman formerly lived containing seventy five acres to him and his heirs forever.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Jonathan Bateman one shilling sterling.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew Bateman one shilling sterling.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my daugher Elizabeth Ansley one shilling sterling.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Joanna Smith one shilling sterling.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Fanny Davis one shilling sterling.

Item - My Will and Desire is that my loving wife Jane Bateman enjoy all the rest of my Estate which I have not before given away during her natural life and at her decease to be equally divided between my son Issac Bateman and daughter Mary Davis to them and theirs heirs forever.

Further I do nominate and appoint Jane Bateman my wife my Executor and Issac Bateman my Executor to this my last Will and Testament revoking all Will or Wills made by me in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal.

Personally appeared Jeremiah Frasier Esqr. and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that he saw and heard Nathan Bateman Senr. deceased within named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the within instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and at that time he was of sound & disposing mind & memory, and at the same time he saw Elizabeth Hill make her mark as a witness thereto and further saith not.
