February the tenth eighteen hundred and thirty two I am now in my comon health and perfect sences I do will to my children at my deceis as follows to daughter Anna Owens to have five dollars and to my daughter Elizabeth Twedy five dollars and to my daughter Kisey Cowell five dollars and my daughter Easter Basnight to have ten dollars and my daughter Rose Smith and Fann (Fanny?) Everton and Sally Vanhorn and the airs of Susa (Susan?) Twedy my daughters and my son Jacob Basnight to have each of them twelve and a half cents and the balance of my property to be equally devided betwixt my daughter Philis Edwards and my son Joseph Basnight this being my last will and testimony this day and year above ritten.

Will was presented for probate in 1832 at the July Term of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions where it was opposed by the heirs of Dorcas Basnight and the sheriff was ordered to summon Jacob Basnight to the next session of the court on the fourth Monday in October. File subsequently contains summons to Will Hooker, Hez. G. Spruill, Ephm. Mann, John W. Dutton and Elizabeth Basnight over time to the July Term of 1833.

Jos. Basnight vs. the heirs & descendants of Dorcas Basnight. In this case the following jury to wit Ephm. Powers, Josiah Smith, Jos. H. Swain, William Cohoon, Talket Davenport, Jeconias Neal, Gibeon Alexander, Jos. White, Jonathan Tweedy, Uzziel Brickhouse, John Midgett being empaneled and charged say the paper writing exhibited for probate is not the last will and testament of Dorcas Basnight.
