I Jesse Brickhouse of the County of Tyrrel and State of North Carolina being of sound mind & memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make & declare this my last will and testament in manner & form following that to sav:

First- I lend to my well beloved wife Sarah all of my property both real and personal of every kind and nature during her natural life provided she should out live me to have & to keep for her use during her life time all my property as said.

Secondly- After the death of my wife Sarah it is my will and desire that all my property loaned to my wife Sarah which is all my property of every kind both real & personal & perishable shall be equally divided in three equal parts between Ann Eliza Basnight Dorcas Mariah Brickhouse & Nancy Matilda Brickhouse each to have an equal share and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend & brother James Brickhouse my lawful executor to all intent and purposes to this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same. In witness whereof I the said Jesse Brickhouse do hereunto set my hand & seal, this 8th day of February 1858.

Signed Sealed Published by the said Jesse Brickhouse to be his last will & testament in the presents of us who at his request & in his presents do subscribe our names as witness thereto

A paper writing to be the last will & testament of Jesse Brickhouse decsd is exhibited for probate in open court and the due execution thereof by the said Jesse Brickhouse is proved by the oath and examination of Eli Spruill & H. B. Norman the subscribing witness thereto it is therefore considered by the court that the said paper writing & every part thereof is the last will and testament of the said Jesse Brickhouse & the same is ordered to be recorded & filed whereupon James Brickhouse exr. named in said Jesse Brickhouse will in open court renounces the exr. ship of said will.
