Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


April Session 1791

Ordered that Sarah Brickhouse widow of Major Brickhouse deceased have leave to administer on the estate of the said deceased and give bond 200 pounds John Snell and Edward Overton securities and took the oath prescribed by law.

Also the said Sarah Brickhouse administratrix returned into court on oath an inventory of the estate of Major Brickhouse deceased ordered filed.

July Session 1791

Ordered that Sarah Brickhouse administratrix have leave to sell the perishable part of the estate of Major Brickhouse her husband & make return to next court.

October Session 1791

John Snell Deputy Sheriff exhibits into court an account of sales of the estate of Major Brickhouse deceased to amount of 49 pounds, 8 shillings & 2 pence.

October Session 1807

John Swain Surveyor of the County returned in court the division of the lands of Major Brickhouse deceased filed also the widdows dower which is filed.

Petition for division of land in July Term 1807 by Peter Brickhouse Samuel Brickhouse Major Brickhouse & Caleb Brickhouse all of lawful age and heirs of Major Brickhouse deceased, their father, who died possessed of a tract of land of which they are entitled to an equal share.

Petition for dower of land in July Term 1807 by Sarah Brickhouse whose late husband Major Brickhouse died possessed of joining William Brickhouse & Abel Ashbee one third of which she is entitled to as her dower.

Division of the lands of Major Brickhouse deceased dated 15 October 1807. Total was 128 acres, with part one going to Major & Samuel Brickhouse, part two to Caleb Brickhouse and part three to Peter Brickhouse containing his dwelling. Division was by consent of the parties.
