I John Gray Blount of the Town of Washington & County of Beaufort being of sound and disposing mind and memory desirous of disposing of my real and personal Estate in such manner as to render the property of my childred as nearly equal as possible and at the same time to prevent any misunderstanding among them. I make and ordain this as my last Will & Testament hereby expressly revoking all others by me made heretofore - In the first place, I wish all my just debts to be paid as soon as possible and to enable my executors to do so they are hereby authorized and required to sell ant part of my estate either real or personal that may think proper, and in any manner they may deem most to the interest of my estate. Secondly - I give and bequeath unto my Grand Son William Blount Rodman his executor and Admrs. Negro Woman Mary and all her children.

Thirdly - I give unto my daughter Lucy Oliva Blount her executors & Admrs. A Negro girl named Lucinda.

Fourthly - I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Harvey Blount his heirs and assigns all the lands I purchased of Eborn & wife, Samuel Young, Thomas Trotter & John Bonner near the town of Washington and bounded on one side by the public road leading to Bath. Known by the name of Sans Souce.

Fifthly - As it is my wish that all my children shall inherit an equal part of my Estate, it is my will and desire that my estate shall be divided by my executors into six equal parts as near as may be including that property which I have heretofore given to any or all of my children, estimating such property as its value at the time I gave it them. To my sons Thomas H. Blount, John G. Blount & William Augustus Blount and to my daughters Lucy Olivia Blount and Patsey Baker Blount, I give and bequeath to each of them their heirs Executors and Admrs. One sixth part and to my executors hereinafter named, their Executors and assigns the remaining one sixth part, In trust that as soon as either William Blount Rodman, Mary Marcia Rodman & Mary Olivia Rodman (The children of my daughter Polly Ann Rodman ) or the Survivor or Survivors of them shall arrive at age then the one sixth part of my estate so set apart shall be equally divided among them or the survivor or survivors of them their heirs and Executors and during their said minority they shall be educated and supported from the profits arising from the said share so allotted for their use as equally as may be and if all of said children should die before either of them comes of age, then the said one sixth part shall be equally divided my surviving children their heirs Executors & Administrator.

Sixthly - I give and bequeath unto William W. Rodman Balance he may own me or shall stand charged on my books at my death.

Lastly - I hereby constitute and appoint my three sons Thos. H. Blount, Jno. G. Blount & Wm. A. Blount my only Executors to this my last Will & Testament - In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal This 25th day of March in the year of our Lord 1823.

Then was this paper writing purporting to be the last Will & Testament of John Gray Blount produced in open court by Thos H. Blount & Wm. A. Blount the Executors, therein named and offered for probate and thereupon it was duly proved according to law by Thos. A. Demill & James Ellison subscribing witnesses thereto - Let it be recorded - and Thos. H. Blount & Wm. A. Blount.Two of the Executors therein named came into open court & qualified as such according to Law.

I Geo. A. Paul, Clerk of the Superior Court in and for Said County and state, do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the Last Will and Testament of John Gray Blount decd. and the probates thereon as the same is taken from and compared with the records of this office.

The foregoing certificate of the proof and probate of the within and foregoing paper-writing purporting to be a copy of the Last Will and Testament of John Gray Blount decd late of the County of Beaufort, State of North Carolina by Geo. A. Paul Clerk of the Superior Court of Beaufort County North Carolina attested by his official Seal is adjudged to be correct and in due form of law. It is further adjudged that the said paper-writing is a true copy of the last Will & Testament of John Gray Blount decd.

Now, Therefore it is ordered that the said paper writing and probate with this and the certificate of the said Geo.. A. Paul C.S.C. of Beaufort County, N.C. be recorded in Tyrrell County, N.C.
